About the adventure

Welcome to Waterdeep, the Crown of the North, where a wondrous tale of urban adventure is about to unfold. Our story begins with the gathering of adventurers at the Yawning Portal Inn and Tavern. Volothamp Geddarm, the famous explorer and raconteur, has a quest for them - one that entangles the characters in a bitter conflict between two nefarious organizations. lf the adventurers complete his quest, Volo rewards them handsomely. Yet a much greater prize lies hidden somewhere in the City of Splendors, waiting to be claimed.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players will need a mic, a Roll20 account, and Discord. Webcam is optional. I will be using a webcam myself. I find that it makes it a bit easier for most players to see the DM instead of talking to a voice behind a screen.

What I provide

I will bring all the handouts, battlemaps, and etc. to the game on Roll20.

Gameplay details

Typical sessions will primarily include a lot of roleplay, social intrigue, investigation, and city-crawling. There will be the occasional combat whenever it arises. Some of the safety tools I use are the X, N, & O cards, Lines and Veils, and etc. I encourage players to discuss what they are okay with seeing and what they are not okay seeing in the sessions. I like to have all of my players on the same page when running a game. This enables everyone at the table to recognize lines and to not cross any of them.

How will character creation work

Character creation will occur during session zero. Sheets will be handed out to the player on Roll20 and will be filled out during session zero. Your characters will start at 3rd level with a free feat. I allow UA/Homebrew so long as they are run by me and the rest of the party beforehand. Stats will be rolled twice. 4d6 keep the highest 3. Minimum stat total is 70. Reroll any stat line under 70. Then you may pick which stat line you prefer.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Low
  • Roleplay: Medium
  • Puzzles: Medium
  • Experience Level: Open to all
