About the adventure

FREE FIRST SESSION! If you like Doug's games (and you will) you have the option to continue at only $15/session!! Think "Hellboy" meets "Sherlock Holmes." You've HEARD about this engaging RPG ... now is your chance to "learn it by playing it!" You are a paranormal investigator blessed (or cursed) with The Sight. This makes you able to see Vaesen, the creatures of folklore like trolls and lindworms. Your goal is to recreate the ancient order called The Society. Your only lead is the one remaining member of that group, now locked in an Asylum in Upsala, Sweden. Unwrap grim and supernatural mysteries. Grapple with ancient horror. Deepen your story with The Sight. Vaesen uses the "Year Zero" game system which is very simple to learn, very flexible and does not require you to own a big bag of dice. The experience is very atmospheric and the stories are engrossing. Come and try!

Gameplay details

I run a very safe table. My main focus is on your enjoyment and comfort. Since Vaesen is a horror game, it sometimes deals with disturbing themes, such as the kind you might find in an original Brothers Grimm fairy tale. To ensure safety and enjoyment, I use a variety of tools from the TTRPG Safety Toolkit including: a. a warning about the kinds of content you might encounter in each episode of the game. b. the Script Change mechanic, which gives all players a virtual "remote control" with Stop, Pause, Rewind and FF buttons. This puts you in control of which content becomes part of the adventure and which does not.
