About the adventure

Just outside the small town of Otari sits the ruins of Gauntlight Keep, the former den of a villainess slain nearly 500 years ago. A local merchant and acquaintance of yours claims that the long dormant lighthouse at the Keep has been faintly glowing and wants you to investigate! Surely this sign can only spell trouble for the town. As the brave adventures willing to search for answers(or perhaps just gold and glory), find horrors and lost knowledge as you delve into the Abomination Vaults! This 1 to 10 Adventure Path involves the exploration of a horror themed, monster and undead infested, and lore packed dungeon while potentially taking time to help out the people of Otari.

How to prepare

I'm able to guide new players, but because of the potential difficulty of of some encounters, I would like anyone newer to Pf2e to have read the core rulebook and encourage them to ask questions. Please have a discord account, working mic, and a quiet space to join voice chat from. Lastly, please take a look at the Player's Guide for this adventure. https://downloads.paizo.com/AbominationVaults_PlayersGuide.pdf

What I provide

I will have the FoundryVTT and Discord servers ready to be joined. Additionally, I can provide free sketches of player characters a couple sessions in, once I understand the characters better.

Gameplay details

Players can expect plenty of combat, some of which can be challenging. Losing a character is entirely possible, but retreating and coming back prepared to face a difficult threat will be an option in most cases. The amount of roleplay will be entirely up to the group because trips to the town or to the nearby city can be made as often as the party likes. While the dark themes around the dungeon and the evil actions of the villains call for several content warnings such as Ableism, Suicide, and Human Experimentation, I do not allow my players or their characters to engage in bigoted or other vile behaviors. If a description or particular entity is too much for anyone I will make adjustments to make everyone at the virtual table comfortable.

How will character creation work

Characters will be made after session 0 and with the other party members in mind to hopefully put together a balanced group. All common and uncommon ancestries and heritages are allowed. Common and Player's Guide backgrounds are allowed. All currently released classes are allowed. Variant rules in effect will be free archetype (with common archetypes) and Gradual Ability Boosts. Players may ask about taking uncommon or rare choices not already listed, but how many uncommon or rare tags allowed on one character will be limited. I would like to steer away from "immersion breaking" characters.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: High
  • Roleplay: Medium
  • Puzzles: Medium
  • Experience Level: Open to all
