About the adventure

Dragons! The once mythical creatures of lore have been seen scouring the skies up from Neverwinter to Baldur's Gate. What's more, the Cult of the Dragon, the mortal worshippers of these ancient beasts, have stepped out of the shadows and fearlessly operate in the cold light of day. Are they responsible for the recent dragon sightings? And what new cataclysm do they seek to unleash on the land of Faerun? Join the five factions of the Sword Coast, including the Harpers and the Zhentarim, in answering these questions and putting an end to this threat!

How to prepare

Players will need to come prepared for their first session with a character ready to go. A template character can be chosen from every class for brand new players, or a character can be created from scratch (more details below). For any veterans, you're welcome to use D&D Beyond for character creation, but I require it to be linked to the Roll20 game for ease of rolling. A working mic and webcam are required. After all, it is a social game! Voice chat and video will be handled via Discord, so a free Discord account will be required. The tabletop will be handled in Roll20, so a free account there will also be required. Finally, immersive audio will be handled via Syrinscape Online, but you're able to use a free account there too. Don't skip this step! I always play atmospheric music and sound effects (with the occasional fireball or dragon roar thrown in), so this program gives you the full experience! If you're unfamiliar with any of these services, I'm happy to help troubleshoot technical difficulties ahead of the first session. There is absolutely no need to read the rules ahead of time, but it's certainly recommended. You can go here for the basics. https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules I also recommend reading the Startplaying.games booking rules before booking a game. https://intercom.help/startplayinggames/en/articles/4620101-how-to-cancel-skip-or-leave-a-game

What I provide

I bring all the goodies! I'll bring the adventure, maps, reference art, music, sound effects, and extensive knowledge of all the various rulebooks (and rulings) to the table. And if you have a cool picture of your character, I'll gladly make that into a token for you!

Gameplay details

This campaign is a good mix of combat and role-playing. I encourage creative-thinking and alternate approaches to a challenge, and it's absolutely possible to talk your way around the Big Bad Evil Guy's plan. But sometimes players just want to roll dice and cast big explodey spells, and that's fine too! Pacing is paramount, so it's best not to get too comfortable lounging by the hearth-fire drinking your ale! Beginners are very welcome at my table. I have loads of experience guiding new players through the ins and outs of the game, so if you've never hurled a Firebolt at a goblin before - fear not! Note that this is an 18+ game. The campaign can occasionally lead to intense themes, so I utilize the X-card safety feature as necessary. However, I always encourage my players to voice any concerns at any time.

How will character creation work

I have template characters of every class that are available for use so brand new players can jump right in without any preparation (other than picking their class, of course). Minor tweaks (race, background, etc), can be made to them on request. However, I strongly encourage players to create their own characters. For anyone new to D&D, I'll happily hold a character creation session outside of the campaign time to work through the details. For any veteran players wanting to create their own characters, I'll send a few guidelines ahead of the first session. Rest assured, I'm fairly relaxed on my character creation rules.
