About the adventure

A rumor is spreading that people who have been brought back by resurrection magic are getting sick and dying. Could this be related to the issues with the sharp pain youā€™ve felt on occasion, as if your old wounds are opening up again? Itā€™s not like you had died back then, but you would have, if it hadnā€™t been for the magic that saved your life. Normally these kinds of mysteries are meant to be solved by powerful adventures, yet it was you that received a letter from one such adventurer, asking for your help. She is putting together an expedition to explore the jungles of the peninsula Chult. She says it may hold answers to the rumored Death Curse. Whether out of self preservation, the promise of wealth or the seeking of glory, you agreed to join this exposition and are now on a ship bound for the peninsula filled with dinosaurs, undead and even some undead dinosaurs. This is a weekly campaign and we will be playing the 5e Adventure Module Tomb of Annihilation, set in the Forgotten Realms. It starts at level 1 and has the players usually at level 11 by the end of it. I am very familiar with this campaign, having run it in it's entirety twice. This campaign is considered one of the more difficult ones. Add on top of that the fact that resurrection magic does not work. If your character dies, they stay dead. Leveling will be through party XP. Everyone will level up together. If your character dies, you can roll up a new character, at the same level. Character backstories will be as important as you make them to be. I canā€™t guarantee that your characterā€™s backstory will come up or affect the plot, but I will try if I see an interesting way to incorporate it. There is also a selection of adventure hooks that you can choose from. Regardless of your characterā€™s backstory, they will have a personal stake in the outcome as your character is feeling the effects of the Death Curse, but to a lesser extent. Iā€™ll explain more in the character creation section. Session will run 3 to 4 hours long. We will use voice chat through discord, with the options of using video for those that want to. I am only looking for people who havenā€™t played, read or watched a stream of this campaign. There are many puzzles and surprises in the campaign, so it would not be fair to other players, if someone already knew the answers.

How to prepare

You will need a microphone as the game is played through voice chat. Webcam is optional. You should come to the first session with an idea of you first character at the very least, though having your character completed is prefered.

What I provide

This campaign will feature a lot of art and maps, that I will provide. I will also be streaming music that matches the theme of the campaign.

Gameplay details

This is a campaign where players are meant to tackle difficult and dangerous situations, while exploring a deadly jungle. Not every fight is winnable and running is sometimes the better option. The later part of the game involves a large dungeon crawl that is filled with traps designed specifically (out of game and in game) to kill reckless adventurers. There is a built in story hook and mechanic that temporarily removes player characters from the story, if the player misses a session. It is specifically meant to keep your character safe, but also means your character won't be able to aid the other players, if you are not at a session.
