About the adventure
Deep in the jungles of Chult, an ancient evil awakens. In a world of magic, gods, and monsters, a curse has begun to consume the resurrected, the fortunate who had escaped death with divine intervention. They are not the only victims; those who are dying are not reaching the afterlife. The temples have gone silent, the gods do not speak to the faithful, and the faithless find shelter in the uneasy peace found throughout the land; no one can afford to die. Wars rage among the ignorant, and the sick and old fear for their immortal souls. There is hope, however. The world's arcanists have determined that the source of this"Death-Curse" lies deep in the forgotten land of Chult, where necromancers have ruled, and empires have been brought to ruin. They have sent out a call to the brave and selfless, the powerful and greedy; venture into the tropical hell of this remote land, for good or glory, and salvation will be met with a handsome reward.
How to prepare
You should understand the core rules of 5e, have a focused mindset, and a roll20/discord account. The character sheets, tokens, and setting details will be distributed by me.

This game is more than just a module for experienced players looking for a challenging, long-term game with meaningful backstory tie-ins and a high/gritty fantasy experience. My personal edits and additions bring a more full, complex, and a new angle to this beloved story and setting. I customize each game for each player as much as I can within the boundaries of the module, preventing it from feeling like a cookie-cutter game with no investment or player agency. I can assure each player a worthwhile and meaningful game for a character they spent time with and want to see grow and develop until the end. Not quite a meat-grinder, the optional rules for exploration and severity I implement present additional difficulty, but changes the dynamic to an uphill battle that rewards creativity and preparedness. This makes the game have higher stakes, more meaningful consequences, and marries a sense of wonder and discovery to the looming dread of lurking threats and unknown dangers. This is not a misery centric game intended to put players through a wringer; it simply a grittier, more realistic story for experienced players who want choices to matter. As a result, RP will be at the same level as combat, and staying in character will bring vibrancy to the game. As for rules, optional rules, and homebrew, I employ all at the table, though I abide by and rely on the "rule of cool" more often than not; storytelling takes the forefront, the numbers are to keep things within reason, not crush the creativity out of players. I can add or consider homebrew at a players request, provided that it will not negatively impact other players experiences. Min/maxing and power building are completely fine, but its always worth noting that no character can fill all roles.

How will character creation work
Character creation will happen beforehand with an individual, free session zero for each player. Each character will have their general concept and role revealed to the party, but the idea is to keep balance while preserving individual control and creativity.
