About the adventure

"Death is such a fleeting moment, even more so with a tyrant ruling over it" Game Description ------------------------------------ Something evil is trapping the souls of the dead and draining life from all who have been raised from death by magic. This worldwide “death curse” not only prevents the raising of the dead but also causes creatures that were previously raised from the dead to wither and die. The source of this death curse lies in a trap-riddled tomb hidden beneath a lost city in the depths of a vast jungle. Tomb of Annihilation is a Dungeons & Dragons adventure that takes place on the peninsula of Chult in the Forgotten Realms. Chult is a tropical wilderness composed mostly of jungles, plateaus, impassable mountains, and belching volcanoes. Venture through the rainforest of Chult, solve mind-bending puzzles, and live the vibrant merchant city of Port of Nyanzaru. The module is described as a long campaign from level 1 to 11, however, due to the wonders and vastness of Chult, I love to run this campaign as more of a sandbox experience which will allow players to get up to level 13+ depending on what they do. Adventure Primer ----------------------------- For the past several days, the talk of the streets and taverns has all been about the so-called death curse: a wasting disease afflicting everyone who’s ever been raised from the dead. Victims grow thinner and weaker each day, slowly but steadily sliding toward the death they once denied. When they finally succumb, they can’t be raised—and neither can anyone else, regardless of whether they’ve ever received that miracle in the past. Temples and scholars of divine magic are at a loss to explain a curse that has affected the entire region, and possibly the entire world.

How to prepare

A nice working headset and discord is a must. Other tools such as character sheet will be provided on Roll20 and available contents (books, etc.) will be shared on Roll20

What I provide

I will create character tokens with an art that you've chosen during session 0. No physical tools needed unless you want to (notebooks?). I love to emphasize on visuals so expect a lot of maps and handouts in addition to what the module provides :)

Gameplay details

This is adventure can be a race through the jungle or a slower expedition depending on the players preference. But beware, as the adventurers take their time to gain their magical equipment, treasures and power, the enemies will do so as well. Content Warnings: there is a fairly typical amount of violence for a D&D campaign, the possibility of interrogation scenarios (which will be handled without graphic descriptions of violence), possibly themes of religious conflict, possibly violence against animals in some cases. We will discuss limits and triggers during session zero, and everyone should feel empowered to express their opinion if they feel the game has moved too far in a direction they are not happy with.

How will character creation work

Materials will be given out before session 0 which will be sufficient for players to start creating character concepts/art. Session 0 will be there to flesh out any other details and information required to place each character in the world and ready for the adventure. Character creation will use Roll20 and its tools.
