About the adventure

You have been collected by a mysterious and mostly unknown benefactor. Past deeds have caught the attention of this association and now it's time to show your mettle. A golden key is pulled from a pocket and put inside an ornate music box, popping open and releasing a soothing voice: “Greetings, operatives. We have learned the svirfneblin town of Little Lockford needs your help. Tixie Tockworth, once entrusted with the town’s security, has turned the town’s clockwork automatons against the populace. This quest, should you choose to undertake it, requires you to infiltrate Little Lockford, retrieve a security key, and use it to power down the automatons. You are also empowered to stop Tixie Tockworth from doing further harm to the town. Start by meeting with the town’s mayor, Braith Broadfoot. She’s waiting for you in the caves outside the gates of Little Lockford. Good luck, operatives.” --Keys from the Golden Vault, WotC This is a level 5 heist-focus game. Great for those who enjoy more strategy and teamwork in their D&D games. I am more than happy to help beginner players and try to facilitate a comfortable environment for everyone. Those who bring in characters for Golden Vault games will be able to continue with their character and level them up as the one-shots progress!

Additional Details

How to prepare

The game will be virtual, so players should have a Roll20 and Discord account set up (camera not required, but mic will be). I will send an invite to a server so we can all use the voice chat. A basic understanding of game rules is necessary as we will be under a time restraint. Create level 3 characters. You can use your own dice or you can use a digital dice roller, such as the one in D&D Beyond. You will need access to either a paper or virtual character sheet. Digital is preferable so that it can be shared and I can reference it.

What I provide

Me! And the resources needed to run the adventure, of course. There will be no items distributed for this adventure.

Gameplay details

I am happy to compensate for player needs and preferences to ensure a fun and smooth game. I ask that players message me ahead of time if there are any topics or triggers that should be avoided during gameplay. I will also check in before the game to confirm these details and ask players to respect them. I ask that players either direct message or verbally speak out (whichever one is more comfortable for them) during gameplay if there is an issue. "Green" means this content is okay to continue forward, "Yellow" means this is sensitive territory and do not increase intensity, "Red" means this is too much and needs to stop or be pulled back. I will not question these. At the end of the game, I will check in with the group, make sure everyone is feeling comfortable, answer questions, and take feedback from the group. I will not tolerate any racist, sexist, homophobic, or ableist behavior during games. You will get a warning and if it continues, you will be asked to leave.

How will character creation work

For the sake of time, I would love for players to come with a created Level 5 character. This can be any official D&D content (that means no homebrew content). I will spend the first part of the game answering any questions people have, but do not want to take up too much time before getting started. I recommend using D&D Beyond's character creator to help walk through the process. Characters that have been played in one of my previous games (Level 1-4) can use what loot they received coming into this module.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: High
  • Roleplay: Medium
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: Open to all
