About the adventure

Play with a dungeon master with 4,500 hours of experience in Roll20, and 20 years of experience planning and running games of D&D. Experience full-spectrum storytelling, both visual, verbal, and musical–not just theater of the mind, but fully realized, a treat for your eyes and ears as well as your imagination. See how vivid D&D can truly be, and donate to a good cause in the process. All profits that I earn from this game will be donated to Code2040, an organization committed to breaking down the barriers of entry for Black and Latinx communities in tech. So without any further ado, here’s the scenario: —-------- TO SLAY A DRAGON You are a member of a small, elite group of adventurers tasked with a fearsome duty–to slay the white dragon Bloodsquall. The wicked ice dragon Bloodsquall, mature in age, possesses a full panoply of powers but has an utter lack of mercy or scruples. Many cities lay in ruins thanks to his pillaging and plundering, and it is said he hoards his ill-gotten gains atop the frost-girt summit of the Skythroat, the tallest mountain in all the land. Bloodsquall has also struck a vile bargain with the frost giants, securing the backing of the cold-hearted titans in his campaign of slaughter. And worst of all, he has used foul magics to reanimate his victims as skeletons and zombies, mindless thralls to be hurled against the spears and arrows of his enemies. None dare face Bloodsquall. Until you and your companions came along. You and your adventuring comrades are mighty heroes indeed, clad with a mighty arsenal of skills, spells, and magical artifacts. Astride your loyal pegasi, you will fly to the foreboding heights of the Skythroat, and boldly challenge Bloodsquall in his own lair. You seek nothing less than to put an end to his reign of terror once and for all. —-------- This adventure will take place over the course of 3-4 hours on Roll20. I will use Discord for video and voice chat. All region maps and battlemaps will be completely of my own invention. I also have premade 10th-level characters ready, complete with character art and tokens, so you don’t have to bring anything other than a basic familiarity with the rules of D&D and a desire to have a good time. How to prepare

I use virtual tabletop software to make D&D more visually engaging and accessible. We will be using Roll20, which you can run in your browser (I recommend Firefox), so no need to download anything.

What I provide

I will bring premade maps, art, and tokens, so you don't need to bring anything.

Gameplay details

In terms of content warnings, this game will include the kind of heroic fantasy violence you might expect from an M-rated fantasy video game like Skyrim or Dark Souls. I always steer clear of stuff like sexual violence, slavery, and other atrocities that are uncomfortably close to reality. My games are fun and escapist in nature. Heroes are heroes and villains are villains. I also avoid putting your characters in ethical dilemmas where they are required to do something awful. I will make the x-card available throughout the game. Here is an explanation of how the x-card works: https://geekdad.com/2016/10/dd-for-young-dms-x-card/
