About the adventure
"Waterdeep. A city prideful of its glittering harbors above; casting baleful, conspiratorial gazes towards the eldritch abominations which creep beneath their feet. You would recall its Splendors, after our ill spent youths together plumbing its secret ways and thinking ourselves extraordinary adventurers. It is with trepidatious hand, and hurried pen with which I write to you this grim news: Madness has come to our home. After years of wasted warnings surreptitiously fed out to that fool ale-slop Durnan, the worst has finally come. Deep from within the pit at the Yawning Portal spawn creatures of nightmarish monstrosity which threaten to crawl up from their abyssal caverns and wreak havoc upon us all. I beg of you, my friend, return to these old streets, find your way to the Yawning Portal, and plumb the void into the wretched depths of the Mad Mage's inscrutable design. Please, you must save us all. - The Benefactor" Your character awakens one morning to find a mysterious letter and a payment made in gold. The note cries out for aid and issues a singular plea: Return to Waterdeep, enter the Yawning Portal tavern, and descend into the dungeons of Undermountain to put down the monsters which lie within. In Dungeon of the Mad Mage - Darkest Dungeons you and your party will begin at 5th level and take on a treacherous dungeon delve into the darkest corners of Waterdeep's Undermountain. Be it for the glory of conquering Halastar Blackcloak's halls, to find untold riches and a trove of magical items, or to slay as many monsters as you can, the Undermountain calls to all adventurers who seek incredible challenge. Fight in high stakes combat, complete quests for the Yawning Portal and its numerous patrons and make your way into the highest tiers of DND5E by reaching 20th level.

How to prepare
Players should prepare by reading the Rules and the Character Creation Document found on the Discord, creating their character sheets in DNDBeyond via the campaign link as soon as possible, and checking out our FoundryVTT server's link when it is available. **You will need access to the following** - Discord and a working microphone. Headphones are preferred as to not have sound overlap. - A reliable internet connection. I have found Edge, Chrome, and Firefox all run FoundryVTT well for browser options. - You and a willingness hop in and roleplay!
What I provide
I will provide you access to our campaign's virtual spaces in DNDBeyond, Discord, and FoundryVTT. As our adventure will be entirely digital, we can travel light on supplies, and I'll pack everything needed to get going into the jungle! Please review the list of items above for all necessary tools.

How will character creation work
You will begin this adventure at Level 5. Please use the Character Creation Document (provided to you upon joining the game); it should hopefully answer most character creation questions. There will be a DNDBeyond Campaign Link for these new character sheets to be built in. You do not need to own anything in DNDBeyond; I own all of the content we will use for this session, and it will be shared with you. We can discuss character stories, themes, etc. before the session and during Session Zero. If you have any questions the guide does not answer, please feel free to DM me to discuss.
Players can expect
- Combat/Tactics: High
- Roleplay: High
- Puzzles: Medium
