Theme Soup - a DnD 5e One Shot

About the adventure

I once asked my Friday group if they wanted a twisted fairytale, horror, heist, dungeon crawl, wilderness, or high seas theme for a short adventure. They chose yes, and add sci fi elements! I declared challenge accepted, and the theme soup adventure was born. This adventure is prepared for theatre of the mind play. There is a part of the sea where few dare venture. Those who sail in rarely find their way out, and none emerge with sanity intact. Rumours of treasure within this danger zone have only grown over the years, and brave (or foolish) adventurers sometimes sail in to try their luck. Those who make it out only fuel the rumours with tales of a great magical ruby, sure to make all your dreams come true...

Additional Details

How to prepare

Please have your characters created and ready for review before game time. Make sure you are familiar with your character's abilities and the basic rules. For gameplay, all you absolutely need is a character sheet, a mic, and access to Discord. There is a dice roller bot in the discord server

What I provide

I'll have the discord server set up with everything you need to play, including a shared party notes channel, dice roller, character creation dedicated discussion channel, and of course the voice channel where we'll play the game.

Gameplay details

We'll start the session with a simple and expedited session 0, ensuring everyone's game expectations are on the same page, and choosing or importing and finalizing character sheets. We'll have a scheduled 15 minute bio break 2 hours into the session, and players can always request additional breaks as needed. When you sign up for the game you'll be invited to a discord server for the adventure, which will not only be used for voice chat during session but also is a hub for communications about my games. The toddler affectionately known as the Sound Effects Engineer is generally present during game sessions and may cause unscheduled interruptions.

How will character creation work

This adventure is for level 5 characters. You should create your character in advance and send me the sheet to review/approve. Characters get 300 gold on top of normal level 1 starting gear/wealth with which to equip their characters. Magic items must be discussed with me as there are no fixed magic prices.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
