The World of Paenterre: The Architects of Destiny begins with our characters each embarking on a journey to complete a personal quest. Unbeknownst to our heros, their quests will draw them together at a place called The Crossroads, where destinies will become forever entwined... The campaign is “adults only” (no players under 18 years of age) and considered R-rated, as it will include harsh language and themes of violence, sexuality, and drug use. Campaign Setting: The World of Paenterre is a low magic world, and is being encroached upon by things which exist on the other side of the safety of the rational mind. It consists primarily of humans, except in areas which are considered to be beyond the reach of civilization. Non-human characters are rare and are the subject of many stories told to frighten children. Fear and mistrust will greet non-human characters nearly wherever they go in the world of men, and as a result, it is almost unheard of to find non-humans living openly as such in most human societies. (Non-humans living in secret is another matter entirely however…). Despite the existence of magic being well known, it is considered by most to be unnatural, and those who wield it openly in human lands, even for the purposes of good, are spoken of in hushed tones and regarded with suspicion in nearly the same way that non-humans races are. In accordance with humankind’s natural proclivity for research, exploration, exploitation, and transformation of the natural world, gunpowder has been invented and, though still fairly uncommon, is starting to be seen more and more by some as an equalizing power against those who would use magic to further their own agendas.

How to prepare

We will be playing via Discord for voice and text chat, webcam is optional. Character sheets are on D&D Beyond. TaleSpire is being used for battle maps and tokens. Campaign management is being done on World Anvil. In-game background music and sounds via Syrinscape Online Player.

What I provide

All of my players receive full access to all sourcebooks and adventures published on D&D Beyond per my subscription level, and players who play 5 sessions with me receive free digital character artwork.

Gameplay details

This game is intended for Mature Audiences, 18+ only. It will contain harsh adult language and descriptions of violence, sexuality, drug use, and fantasy race relations. That said, the game is intended to be a congenial one, and is open to players of any experience level. Also note that this table is LGBTQ+ friendly.

How will character creation work

Characters may be created either beforehand or at Session 0. Either way, stats will need to be rolled live. We use D&D Beyond for character management. Characters may be any race or class in official published sourcebooks. Do note that this is a human dominated world, and non-humans may face some unusual challenges in NPC interactions as a result. Feel free to create as simple or as detailed a backstory for your character idea as you like. I will edit the character into the specifics of the world.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
