About the adventure

For what could be any number of reasons, you have chartered passage aboard a ship heading to the newly settled continent of Sunland. The old world you’re leaving behind suffers from overpopulation, drained resources and ancient cultural squabbles, whereas Sunland brings the promise of new uncharted lands and is said to be rife with potential for people of just about any interest. You’ve been at sea for about a month so far without anything too serious happening. It’s best to be on your guard, though, the influx of ships has led to a growing piracy problem, with the infamous and mysterious Hooded Havok being the most feared amongst the bloodthirsty pirates’ ranks. --- This adventure was originally written as an introductory one shot for folks new to Dungeons and Dragons, so if you or someone you know is looking to get into D&D but don't know where to start, this is a good game to check out! That said, it's still a fun adventure for players of any level of experience.

How to prepare

Players will need a mic, webcam is optional. Right now I'm only running games digitally through Roll20 and Discord which both require (free) accounts. A rudimentary understanding of D&D 5e rules is definitely a big plus, but I can totally work with folks who have never played before, as long as the other players in the session are alright with it. It's definitely better to have your character ready to go and I'm always happy to help hammer out details on backstory before the session itself.

What I provide

- An original adventure written by me. - Custom monsters and maps, many of which feature dynamic lighting. - If you have art for you character you can send it my way and I'll make a little custom token for you! - I have the base player's handbook and a few expansions for D&D 5e that are shareable through my games on Roll20. If there's something you'd like to play as that's not available through the Roll20 charactermancer I can help you build a custom character sheet.

Gameplay details

- Before we play I will ask folks to fill out a TTRPG Consent Checklist for me so I can make sure to know where everyone is at. - Session structure is usually pretty casual, I find it makes for a more enjoyable experience if we can enjoy each others' company as players as well as our characters. - While I do try to keep the overall mood of my games light, there are themes of classism in a few of my one shots. - I like to have non-violent options available in all of my games but generally the level and intensity of combat is left to the players to decide. - I don't accept any form of bigotry at my table when we play. If a player is behaving inappropriately during a game they will be asked to leave. Depending on the severity of their behaviour I may give them one warning beforehand.

How will character creation work

This adventure is for level 1 characters. Generally, players should be arriving with their character ready to go, though I'm open to talking online about character creation before our game.

Players can expect
