About the adventure

The Witchlight Carnival. It only arrives once every 7 years upon your world. But oh, what a carnival. There's no mistaking the magical nature of the carnival whenever it comes flying down upon butterfly winged horses and caravans of such splendor as to amaze and delight all who pay the entry fee... ... And it's your ticket to finishing the job you were hired to do. For some of you, a warlock has tasked you to find a gateway into the realm of Prismeer, the reward is too handsome to pass up. You must find out the fate of an Archfey known only as "Zybilna", and return back to report your findings. For some of you, the Witchlight Carnival may be your home, and you've been working as a hand in the show for some time. You've traveled the multiverse and the different planes of existence for a good period of time, and your affinity for the spectacle of the carnival has told you that perhaps there's something MORE beyond this magical traveling fair... you've yet to find out. For all of you, in one way or another, will find yourselves traipsing along the colorful tents and banners of the Witchlight Carnival. But what indeed lies within? What strange and mysterious forces draw you all together for a strange and magical journey? What will you find in the Wild Beyond the Witchlight? Players can expect me to be adherent to the rules for the most part, but if there's good reason to bend the rules, I may implement some of my own house rules as far as mechanics are concerned. Rule of Cool is not excluded from my games~! Plus there's always room for flexibility if some things don't make a lot of sense. I am willing to engage in an open dialogue with my players for what should and shouldn't happen in a given instance. PLEASE NOTE: If you enter my game, please be open to setting up boundaries/limits with me, and I will enforce that with the rest of the group. Whether that is certain content, subject matter, or triggers, or even the use of foul language. I hope to run a fun and clean game, and that you enjoy the experience!

Additional Details

How to prepare

As this adventure begins in the titular Witchlight Festival, I can and will work with the players on their backgrounds to see if they want to create a character that either has a past in the Feywild, as a "Feylost", or were formerly/currently part of the carnival as a "Witchlight Hand." Alternatively, if experienced players are looking to import their own characters from other games, please discuss it with me beforehand so we can create a version of your character that blends well with the setting! Though I would prefer some experience with the rules, I am not opposed to teaching newcomers the rules as we go through it together. The only things mechanically I would love for players to have is a microphone, and a Discord account. All rolls and attacks can be done through our preinstalled bot "Avrae" OR more traditionally and directly through DNDBeyond on your character sheets.

What I provide

I will bring you all access to maps and tokens in case of battle encounters in Roll20, as well as an experimental music bot to help enhance the experience in Discord. Additionally, I bring with me my 5+ years running the 5th edition of D&D, as well as a voice acting talent that I bring to each session and to each character. I will bring patience, consideration, and collaboration to each session, and encourage players to communicate just as often as I will be. Plus, if people are interested in using Avrae for their dice rolls, then I can provide a "How To" guide for players to use in Discord. Lastly, I will enable Content Sharing in DNDBeyond so that players can access a particular subclass or build if they so choose! I have access to roughly 95% of the content on DNDBeyond, so feel free to play with your build! Just be sure to go over it with me during our Session 0!

Gameplay details

This game features depictions of violence and dark fairy tale fantasy, while mostly lighthearted there may be some things that lean into the horror. I will be asking for lines and veils during session zero as well as have an x card in play just in case.

How will character creation work

Players can start off from Level 1 or Level 3, as agreed upon by group consensus, I like to keep things open, but for the less experienced players, I might recommend beginning at 1st Level to get their bearings. The players may reach either 8th or 10th depending on their progression. Character creation happens primarily through DNDBeyond. REGARDING EVIL CHARACTERS: If a player wishes to make an evil character, that may have to be a discussion with me as your DM, I don't discourage evil characters, but there is a way to play an evil character that doesn't create too much collision or discord within the group. Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
