About the adventure

It is a rainy evening at the Sweet Briar Tavern, a waystation between towns, and you ease into the company of fellow weary travelers and adventurers. Just as the stew pot is being scraped empty and the lure of sleep begins to creep in, a clamor from down the road pulls your attention and soon cries for help drive you into action. What you weren't expecting was the voice calling for help to be a towering, furred quaggoth dragging its wounded bulk through the mud with a panic that belies any sense of safety that the inn might offer. On it's trail is a rivaling tribe and their pack of underdark terrors, intent on putting an end to this lone quaggoth that has sought your aid. Sweet Briar becomes a battleground as you, the quaggoth, and the employees of the tavern fight for their lives with hardy bravery, clever tricks, and sheer stubbornness.

How to prepare

You should have a mic and access to the virtual tabletop we'll be using (not necessarily Tabletop Simulator). Push to talk is a nice way of cutting down on intrusive noise and such. You can either come to Session 0 with a character created or I can aid you in assembling the character sheet alongside you. Webcam not required.

What I provide

Besides my own talents, I'll provide the details from the rulebook that you'll need to prosper in the game as well as maps from DysonLogos when we need a battle map or something to explore.

Gameplay details

I've learned from Mouse Guard that there's an easy flow of play that I mainly adhere to; *Pre-amble & Checking in - Refresh ourselves on where our characters were, attend to any concerns about the game before continuing or interruptions that may pop in. *Game Start - Ice breaker roleplay content to get everyone in the swing of things and ease back into the story of the game. *GM's Turn - Pursue objectives, acquire advantages, deter evil-doers, engage the story in whatever fashion is suitable. *Player's Turn - Characters recover from their struggles, follow up on clues, indulge in snack scenes, and prepare for the next leg of their journey or pursue their own interests. *Repeat the GM's Turn and Player's turn until session end! *Game End - Rewards, concerns, what we're looking forward to next session, and maybe more snack scenes if we're still hungry for roleplay.

How will character creation work

Level 3 is my baseline for fun in D&D so we'll have your characters start at that level. You can use standard points or we can roll first thing in the session and proceed to explore the town and investigate it's peculiar gathering of devil worshippers who're making life better for the lower classes as well as seek out adventure in such a turbulent fantasy realm.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: High
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: Open to all
