The Siege of Raethyr
Dungeons & Dragons 5e on Roll20, Discord
About the adventure
The Summer campaigns have been hard and bloody, but you have returned in victory to Raethyr, the mead hall of your lord. You presented your deeds and spoils to Thaen Hrotrine at the first chill of Winter. Now the skald's bear your songs and the tables bear your feast. The celebration in your honor is long, boisterous, and interrupted. The stranger is as large as a bear, and twice as rank. He laughs at your deed songs, spits out your fine mead, and claims your Thaen's tribute as his own. There can be only one response to such breach of hospitality... A 5e one shot of mythic fantasy and grim survival.
How to prepare
Players will need a mic, Discord, and Roll20. If you want to use your own character rather than a pregen, please have one ready and send it to me before session for review.
What I provide
I will brig the rules, a set up on Roll20, and the myths and stories that make the world.
The session is going to be high on action, with attention paid to use of resources and rests. Imaginative solutions and clever roleplaying may avoid conflicts or preserve resources, and you'll be grateful for it. The game and setting are inspired by Beowulf and the Kalevala, but are very much unique, full of wonder, horror, and strangeness. We will be usig the X card to keep thigs safe for players walking into a unfamiliar one shot.

How will character creation work
Characters will be level 5. Most things from published games should work. Races should come from the Players Handbook, with the addition of Goliaths. I'll have a set of pre-generated characters ready to go for Players who want them, but players are welcome to show up with their own character ideas. We'll make sure to integrate those ideas into the setting. Player Characters are all the finest warriors of Thaen Hrotrine, and their deeds are on the tongues of skalds and commonfolk alike when the game begins.
Players can expect
- Combat/Tactics: High
- Roleplay: High
- Puzzles: Low
- Experience Level: None
