About the adventure

This module is run (mostly) true to the source material for Waterdeep: Dragon Heist. Players will create characters at level one (or are welcome to use a pre-generated character that's ready to go) and will level up to five by the end of the adventure. This is a great adventure for those who want an urban setting for their D&D game and enjoy large amounts of interaction, intrigue, and urban exploration. Waterdeep Dragon’s Heist is a perfect fit for players that are looking for a more tightly packed adventure that centers more around the affairs of the city and the factions there within. Waterdeep is a bustling city along the Sword Coast of Faerun. The sessions I run are more about keeping the flow and the fun of the game going - so don't worry if you're not a rules expert. I use D&D Beyond to run combat and keep track of character information. This helps me keep the experience at the table as stress (and math) free as possible. 😄 Here's the adventure hook ⬇️ Welcome to Waterdeep, the Crown of the North, where a wondrous tale of urban adventure is about to unfold. Our story begins with the gathering of adventurers at the Yawning Portal Inn and Tavern. Volothamp Geddarm, the famous explorer and raconteur, has a quest for them — one that entangles the characters in a bitter conflict between two nefarious organizations. If the adventurers complete his quest, Volo rewards them handsomely. Yet a much greater prize lies hidden somewhere in the City of Splendors, waiting to be claimed...

How to prepare

➡️ The gameplay happens on Owlbear.Rodeo which is a web-based virtual tabletop. No installation is needed, players only need to click the link provided at the beginning of each game. ➡️ D&D Beyond character sheets are used for combat tracking. Players will need to have a free account in order to create a character that can then be invited to the campaign via link. ➡️ Discord is used for session audio and optional text-based conversations. Players will need to install this program (discord.com), create a free account, and after joining the server, ensure their username is the same as their character name (don't worry, I can help with this!). ➡️ A working microphone is needed to use Discord. Players have the option of using their webcam, but it is never a requirement. ➡️ Players should use HeroForge (heroforge.com) - to personalize a figure and then send me the link or a screenshot to create your character's token.

What I provide

I come to each session equipped with: a recap handout, tokens, maps, flavor handouts, and ambient music. ⚠️ Games are screen recorded so that session details are able to be compiled afterward ⚠️

Gameplay details

Players can expect the safety tools to be brought up in session zero. Communication is open and privacy is respected.

How will character creation work

➡️ D&D Beyond character sheets are used for combat tracking. Players will need to have a free account in order to create a character that can then be invited to the campaign via link. All players are welcome to work together in discord to create interlinked backstories.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
