About the adventure

Year 534 of the Dawn Age. The dust has finally begun to settle after the infamous War of Crowns where rulers from all 17 Kingdoms had vied for power, and the first High King of Ardoria was crowned. The land is only just now beginning to feel the steady ease of peace. That is, of course, until she appeared. In the southernmost lands of Ardoria, Princess Arvella slew her father with powerful necromancy, transforming herself into a powerful lich as she usurped power and took control of the Suthland throne. Raising an army of the dead, Arvella sapped the very land of its vital essence, causing fields to become barren, disease to spread, and powerful black knights to patrol her domain. Her armies reached far and wide, overtaking the southern kingdoms of Ardoria. The High King is seemingly powerless to stop her and her endless army. But you have been chosen as the ones who can stop her reign of terror. A mysterious letter finds its way into your possession, claiming to offer you a chance to destroy this Queen of Death before her corrupting influence reaches all of Ardoria and infects even the lands beyond. Will you take up the mantle and put a stop to her?

How to prepare

Microphone is required. Webcam is preferred. Please be familiar with the rules of the game or at least the d20 system. We will be using the Core Rules for 13th Age. You will also need Fantasy Grounds Unity, which we will be using as a VTT. I have an ultimate license, meaning you can use the free version to participate. Note: The "13 True Ways" supplement is not supported by Fantasy Grounds. If you want to play a class or use material from that sourcebook, you will have to manually input your abilities, talents, and powers. Familiarity with Fantasy Grounds is strongly recommended if you want to use that supplement.

Gameplay details

This game contains themes of violence, supernatural horror, blood and gore, and some light sexual themes. For safety tools, we will be using Session 0, Lines and Veils, and the X Card. This game will mainly be about combat and roleplay. Not a lot of dungeon crawling or puzzle solving. Fights will mainly be pre-planned setpieces with opportunities to influence the story with dialogue, roleplay, and combat encounters.

How will character creation work

We will be having a Session 0 where we can outline the plot, discuss character creation, and work out details of our characters together. We will also discuss safety tools and get to know each other as a group.
