The Order of the Crimson Quill: A Beginners Monster of the Week Campaign

About the adventure

Bellamy University. Built in 1945, it is home to 56 degree programs, 12 sororities and fraternities, and 65 student organizations. Well, 65 public student organizations, I guess. It's rumored that a secret society, The Order of the Crimson Quill, has resided on this campus since it's founding. No one know what they actually do. Some say its a cult, others say a group of magicians. Some even think its a group of monster hunters. Crazy, right? But most of us know, it's just a myth. An urban legend spread around in order to make the campus seem more interesting than it is and explain the disappearances that happen every so often. So get settled in. Find your friends, change your major, and for the love of the gods, don't go exploring any abandoned residence halls unless you're wanting to get hurt in the process. Welcome to Bellamy. The Order of the Crimson Quill is a Monster of the Week campaign set in a college town in modern day Maryland. You will play newly minted members of The Order that are also students at the university. How will you survive the balance of fighting monsters while still finding time to write your thesis?

How to prepare

All players are required to have the following: - A working web cam - A working microphone - Zoom, Roll20 and Discord accounts (all free) Dice can either be rolled in person or on Roll20, which has character sheets as well.

Gameplay details

The objective of this is to discover and kill the monster before it decimates the campus. You will interrogate people, look for clues, and fight monsters, all while keeping up the guise of regular grad students at the university. Safety tools that will be used in this game are as follows: session zero, lines and veils, stars and wishes, open table policy, and X, N, and O cards. If you are unfamiliar with these, no worries! We will go over all of it in the discord and during the session zero. Possible content warnings include, but are not limited to, violence, death, betrayal, and PC/PC conflict.

How will character creation work

Character creation will happen during the session zero. We will discuss and pick playbooks beforehand in Discord.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
