About the adventure

The Nine Hells of Baator: Devil's Due is a campaign based on the Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition setting of Baator (a.k.a. the Nine Hells), and follows a party of seasoned adventurers from level 12 to 20 whose goal, albeit foolhardy and absurd, is destroying Asmodeus, the ruler of hell, visiting every layer along their journey. Despite the dark and dangerous setting, the outrageous plot allows the themes of its adventures to be flexible and tailored to the players' preferences, and the high character levels gives everyone an opportunity to witness and perform powerful abilities which aren't very common in your average adventure.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players should be familiar with the basic rules and have at least some experience playing Dungeons and Dragons. For playing in person, printed character sheets will be provided, and completed characters if necessary. However, bringing your own of either is encouraged and appreciated. For virtual play, players will need: - A mic at the very least, and a webcam if possible - Discord (voice app) installed - A dndbeyond account

What I provide

For playing in person, the GM will supply dice, core rulebooks, maps, miniatures (limited selection), and other handouts. Character illustrations are possible but no guaranteed.

Gameplay details

Everyone at the table is expected to respect each other's sensitivities and boundaries established during a Session Zero and may always be changed as needed. The base campaign includes mentions of torture, drug use, descriptions of physical pain, mental anguish, disease, gore, and sexually suggestive themes, but avoids explicit details. Any of these may be restricted by a player's preference. As a safety measure, a "timeout" request will pause uncomfortable moments and allow the table to adjust how the game proceeds. A typical session will consist of a majority of roleplaying, a good amount of planning when needed, some exploration, some puzzles, and infrequent combat. Due to the high level of the party, some combat encounters may be complicated and extremely dangerous, ideally making for meaningful and exciting strategic engagements. Levels will be gained by reaching milestones.
