About the adventure

The Network Good (Morning, Afternoon, Evening, or Night), (Mr., Ms., Mrs., or Mx.) , It is a great privilege of The Network to have you. Included with this Welcoming letter will be all of your on-boarding paperwork, which will include any and all information, pertinent to your role, that you need. This packet is issued to all employees and contractors of the company, so please do not be discouraged if your packet seems lighter than some others, it is dependent on your role. The company was founded in 1958 by Nadine and Daniel Ryan in Seattle, Washington. However, the Ryan family has always had a fascination with research into fringe science. It is believed that Robert Ryan helped support the research into the Manhattan Project, Lena Ryan helped support John Neil during the investigations of Jack the Ripper, and most astoundingly was William Ryan who helped justify Hindu research when the Crown controlled India. It is said in the family that they have always done such things as far back as Elizabethan era, and before the family just cannot fully find records as of yet. The Network was created to help governmental and nongovernmental organizations to explain and research subjects that most scientists ignore, whether because lack of interest, disbelief, or merely time. We have branches throughout the world thanks to the great contributions given to us from those that we help. All sister cities of Seattle have a branch of The Network, Be'er Sheva, Israel, Kobe, Japan, Bergen, Norway, Limbe, Cameroon, Cebu, Philippines, Mombasa, Kenya, Chongqing, China, Nantes, France, Christchurch, New Zealand, Pécs, Hungary, Daejeon, Korea, Perugia, Italy, Galway, Ireland, Reykjavik, Iceland, Gdynia, Poland, Sihanoukville, Cambodia, Haiphong, Vietnam, Surabaya, Indonesia, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. We also do have a small branch located in Turrialba, Costa Rica, and Sucre, Bolivia. It should also be noted that there are some operational branches throughout the U.S. Lake City, Florida, Albany, New York, and La Cruces, New Mexico. This is so that if one of the cities has a problem we can respond immediately and keep our high standards to an acceptable level. If you would like to be temporarily or permanently transferred to one of these locations you will need to inform your superiors and they will perform an evaluation on you and need of the area. If successful you will be transferred within three months. However, do remember that if you are a field agent, permanent, temporary or contractual, you may be transferred to locations to complete your duties. We would like to thank you for joining The Network and hope that you enjoy your time with us. We would also like to remind you that leaving The Network whether voluntarily or involuntarily you may not speak about any research that is being done, per the NDA you signed during your applications process. Welcome again, CHRO Pena Ryan

How to prepare

These sessions are designed to allow for new players to experience the game, so they will not need to prepare anything. However, if they wish to read ahead about the game and get a feel it is appreciated. All players should also have a discord account.

What I provide

I will bring the rule book along with pre-generated characters to choose from, along with a discord server that is considered in game and for play at anytime.

Gameplay details

This game is going to be active "24/7." Players can interact with one another at anytime on the server provided, this is to allow for the play by post approach. If you have two standard dice you can play this game. A typical session is broken up into two main sections investigation and resolving. A player depending on their playbook will have their own skills to assist in the investigation portion of the game, whether that is the Mundane who stumbles into clues, or the Professional who calls contacts to give them information. A player will say what they want to do and what Move they wish to use. This is nearly the same for resolving the issue, which depending on the Monster of the Week, may involve killing it, doing an elaborate ritual, or just trying to stop people’s belief in it. The mechanics are very simple and encompassing that the results of the roll dictate more of what happens after the desired Move is used. The ideal of these game play sessions are to teach new players about the game, and should be limited to five sessions. I am willing to go along with character creation, though there are pre-gens of all but two playbooks available. Safety Tools: I use two major safety tools, X card and lines and veils, with weekly check ins. The X card can be used at any point if a participant is uncomfortable with the content happening in-game. When the X card is used by tapping the card or typing an “X” in the chat, the group can change, rewind, or skip the content. Lines: are subjects that are never brought up or into the game, any player may add to the list. The current lines are: Sexual Assault of any kind. Veils: are subjects that are alluded to but never directly brought up or into the game, any player may add to this list as well. The current veils are: domestic abuse. Weekly Check Ins: is where I ask the group before each game if there is any Lines or Veils that the players would like to add to the list whether on a permanent basis or temporarily considering life happens and we are not fully active in each other's life.
