About the adventure

Welcome, newcomers! In this adventure, we'll work to solve a mystery about a professor's past while I guide you through a seamless D&D5E/Roll20 in-game tutorial. This is a great intro to D&D and Roll20 for adventurers who are not sure where to start. Adventure Summary: "For more than a century Elaria Feywing, known to many as The Master, mentored young adventurers in combat, exploration, and magic. Little is known about the elf woman’s past and her days as a wandering wizard, but her status as a teacher is legendary. Many young fortune-seekers made the trek out to the small village of Parabor on the frontier of the Merriam Vale to seek Elaria’s expertise. She took only a handful of these pupils every year. Her favorite group of disciples was also her last and most recent... YOU. "The Master's Vault" serves as a detailed introduction to both Roll20 and tabletop roleplaying." Author: James Introcaso

How to prepare

Players will need an account (free or paid) on the following platforms: - Roll20.net for token/character management & battle map interactions - Discord.com for audio/text communication (video optional) Players will need a computer with internet access for running Roll20 (it is not very "device" friendly right now). Discord can be accessed on a tablet, phone, or PC and will require audio input/output capabilities at minimum. (Video is optional.) Session-specific links will be emailed to you & posted in the SPG prep-materials upon acceptance to the table.

What I provide

The GM will provide the adventure (including the story, maps, voice acting and role play), an in-game tutorial of Roll20, and will help players navigate the rules of D&D 5th Edition.

Gameplay details

We will start by choosing a character from the list of pregenerated characters for this adventure and learning how to navigate the character sheet and some basic Roll20 controls. From there, our story will begin to unfold as the characters embark on their final test from their late professor. Content Warnings: death/funerals, rodents, spiders, snakes, climbing/falling, undead Katie's table strives to be inclusive of all types of players and everyone is expected to keep their "Plays Well With Others" badge on at all times. ;-) The number one goal is to have fun creating and interacting with a fantastical collaborative story! Players should work together, not against each other, and be prepared to share the spotlight. RPG Safety tools are readily available to use if necessary (X-card, lines/veils, communication with DM, breaks, etc.). They are there if you need them, and if you don't need them, please be respectful of those who might. Gameplay will include theatre of the mind, battle maps on roll20, and in-character role-play opportunities. The GM will present the obstacles and details and the players will respond and interact.

How will character creation work

We will choose from 6 pregenerated characters within the game: a tiefling bard, a human cleric, a dwarf fighter, a dragonborn paladin, a halfling rogue, and an elf wizard. They will begin at level 1, and upon entry to the game, you will use the Roll20 "Charactermancer" to customize your adventurer. This can be done before our scheduled session or upon arrival.
