About the adventure
Following a string of unresolved tragedies and unsolved crimes leads the party to the small swamp village of Hwenn's Grotto. The warm and welcoming population of Hwenn's Grotto is stalked by a malicious entity hiding amongst them. The party must act quickly to keep the people safe, but when hunting an imposter, who can you trust? A great chance to learn and become familiar with the mechanics Dungeons and Dragons! This low level adventure is designed to showcase several different aspects of Dungeons and Dragons that make the game fun. Players have the chance to experiment and fins out what parts of gameplay they enjoy the most. Though this is design to be a longer one-shot adventure, there is a convenient point to break it into two smaller adventures, for players with more limited schedules.

How to prepare
Roll20 is going to have the relevant maps, so players should start by making an account there, a free one is all you need. There is an option for webcams to display, but that is not necessary as we can just play with voice. That being said, players will need a mic. Digital dice and player sheets are available so you don't need to supply your own. However, if having a physical copy would help you I would encourage you bring them. Optionally, groups may utilize discord and dndbeyond. We will talk about that beforehand, but if we decide to use either of those tools make sure to create accounts for them as well.
What I provide
I have access to the player's handbook and several sets of dice if needed. If dndbeyond is used, I have additional content there.
Gameplay details
This adventure is a mystery, so players should expect some detective work. As this is designed for beginners, rules will be pretty thoroughly explained. However, my style means that the rules are also secondary to having fun. Questions are encouraged! As is trying out the different aspects of the game. The roleplay indicator says "medium" but that is flexible depending on what the players enjoy. Safety stuff: • Lines and veils document will be sent out individually, other players won’t have access to what you say unless you want them to see it. • Breaks are flexible as needed. Additionally, walking away from the table for self-care is always allowed, no questions asked. • 20 minutes are built into time estimates for post-game discussion and debriefing. 20 minutes is a minimum and we can easily use more.

How will character creation work
Each player will work with me during session 0 to create a level 2 character. Questions are encouraged and I will never have any issue repeating information for someone. Also, characters are not set in stone. If a character is, for any reason, less fun to play than expected, talk to me and we can work together to alter it as needed.
