The Impenetrable Fortress of Dib: Dungeons & Dragons for beginners, kids and parents

About the adventure

In this session, you'll jump right into the heroic action of Dungeons and Dragons! Choose from over a dozen ready-made characters, join up with a team of brave heroes, and face a gang of goblin bandits who've been terrorizing the trade road. You might be a fearsome barbarian warrior cleaving enemies with your axe, a powerful spellcaster with otherworldly powers, a crafty rogue who solves problems with wit and stealth, or a tinkering artificer trying out a new magical invention. Along with the rules and mechanics of D&D, you'll also learn to use the popular Fantasy Grounds software for online play, which you'll download for free before the game. All ages are welcome. Players under 13 must have a parent or adult guardian who is also playing.

How to prepare

Microphone and Discord required. BEFORE THE GAME: Go to this link https://www.fantasygrounds.com/store/ and download and install the "free demo" version of Fantasy Grounds Unity for your operating system. Then check your dashboard on this (StartPlayingGames) site - if you've successfully signed up for this adventure, you'll see instructions for finding your Discord chat channel and logging into the Fantasy Grounds server at game time.

What I provide

All the software, all the rules, and half the story. The other half is up to you!

Gameplay details

The first half of the session will be learning to play and building characters; the second half will be a small adventure so you can hone your skills. If you enjoy the game and want more, you will now have a character made and equipped, ready to jump into another adventure or campaign (a campaign is a series of adventures, typically one per 1-2 weeks, telling an ongoing story). Midgard is a grim and perilous world, and there is evil in it. Cruelty, prejudice, crime, greed and fear are part of life in Midgard, which is why we need heroes to push back against the tide. That said, my table is welcoming to all genders, races, orientations, abilities, and ages. Be kind and respectful. Bigots and creeps get booted, no refund, no second chance. If there are children at the table, welcome! My content is normally PG-13 but will be dialed down as appropriate for the audience. I encourage parents to play along with your kids, or observe, as you wish, but I don't require it. Sometimes they wanna do their own thing.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
