About the adventure

"You there! Yes you! How would you like to join the Free-City Rebellion Army?! Come help us fight the corruption and villainy of the Capital Cities! Cecil Valefor needs your help and he rewards those willing to fight for freedom and independence for all!" This series of one-shots take place in a world of my own creation named Daleious, which is a world covered in vast oceans where the populations live on scattered islands. Due to a great cataclysm long ago, the world was plagued with great rainstorms that flooded the entire world. Millions we killed, technologies lost, and entire civilizations ceased to exist, leaving the survivors to figure out how to live and survive on what little was left. And survive they did! For now, almost 1000 years later, the world has changed. It is not what it once was, but it has become something worth living for, Fighting for. Surviving for. But it leaves many wondering: What caused it all? Were the gods angered? Did technology cause this? No one knows. This storyline is about a rebellion taking place on the outskirts of the Capital Cities, on the, mostly, smaller islands with less regular communication with their governments. Players involved will be playing on the side of the rebels, seeking to take control of a settlement, outpost, airships, boats, or sometimes even cities. This will all be for the sake of the Free-City Rebellion! Will your character become a hero in the world of Daleious? Will they become another cog in the machine whose death meant nothing? A martyr who gave their life for a cause? A stain in the rebellions history for their failures? Info for players: This is going to be an ongoing series of one shots in which the events that unfold will help further this event going on within the normal campaign when it begins, and it will become setting lore. Players are welcome to return to however many they wish and are able to! Their surviving characters will live on and be available for use by them again if they do. Success will be determined by completing set goals by the end of session, with optional goals available to further the cause of the rebellion, in addition to personal goals and secrets for each player. Allowed Material: All official material (The exception being races that do not exist in my setting, which I only omit a few. They just don't work in the world well), most WotC playtest material/Unearthed Arcana (just check with me to see which), Kobold Press Heroes of Midgard & Deep Magic, as well as some homebrew material of my own moderation). I do not intend to expand this, as this is an immense amount of content already made available. But! I am always willing to work with reasonable requests.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Anyone playing will REQUIRE the following: headset & mic, a Discord Account (Easy Process), PC, a Forge account (Easy Process, to access the VTT), a willingness to learn and adapt to the setting. Additional things to have that would help: Webcam.

What I provide

I will provide all things needed for playing D&D 5e, if they are needed. I possess a license for Foundry, a VTT, that I hose through the Forge (Free simple to make account needed to join sessions). And I will be using Discord for voice and video communication. I have an assortment of ambient music, maps, and we will work together to find anything you might need to play this game. It doesn't matter if you are new, a veteran, or somewhere in between. My wish is for there to be a very even spread of combat, roleplay, and puzzles/situations to solve. Granted, this always comes down to the party themselves, and what they prefer to involve themselves in. I do NOT intend to let this become a murder-hobo style session. As a DM I am pretty player friendly leaning. But these sessions will likely bring a high probability of player death! I will have a solution on hand for this, as I don't want anyone left out of the story! I have a high tendency of sticking to Rules as Written, but I do understand many instances of Rules as Intended are necessary and I will always do my best to be fair. When it really comes down to it though, if you can sell me on a reasonable and logical idea, there is a very high chance I will let you give it a shot. "You can certainly try." Right?

Gameplay details

I take safety, in all respects, very seriously. We will be going over all of my safety measures during Session 0, and I will provide documents to look over and discuss together. Know that at any point within this session, players can directly communicate with me both through direct messaging or speaking up if they feel comfortable out loud. Keep in mind that this story is about Rebellion and liberation from a governmental entity. There will be fighting, deaths, manipulation, and any other thing that might come up during what is essentially: War. It never changes, right?

How will character creation work

The primary portion of character creation will take place in a one-on-one sit down with the DM in a Discord chat. Plenty can be done or prepped in advance, but rolls will be done via Foundry for fairness (Details below). For experienced players, this will be a breeze, especially if you already have ideas in mind. But there are a lot of open options for character creating. This could take around an hour to an hour and a half for those needed more time. As an alternative, I could also provide premade characters if that is wished as well. Players will be starting at level 4. This drastically increases survivability for the session. Returning Rebels in the future will see improvements they can continue to use. Stats: I will moderate two sets of six rolls. From these two sets, one will be selected and the numbers from them can be placed in whichever stat they wish. In the case of abysmal sets being rolled, I will allow rerolled sets until I deem them acceptable. Before the game begins, we will have a sit-down Session 0 which should last for about an hour.
