The European Sprawl - Hypercapitalism with human face

About the adventure

"Future will be bright", your parents and teachers told you. But between global warming, accelerating capitalism and ever present surveillance, your childhood dreams lay shattered into pieces. And yet you will succeed, whatever the cost. United States of Europe, 2060. A land of contrasts. A place where thousands years of history meet ultramodern neon-clad skyscrapers. Where still generous social programs seem to alleviate the dog-eat-dog nature of corporatization and hypercapitalism. Where tightly regulated and highly policed city cores almost seamlessly blend into lawless suburbs, chock full of gangs and law of the jungle. And now you rise from wherever you were born and molded, fueled by your will, to change the world or at least profit of its demise. The Sprawl is a Powered by the Apocalypse game set up in cyberpunk retrofuture. This game will feature most of traditional cyberpunk features - neon lit streets, corporate greed, state weakness, cyber implants, hacking in the matrix. But also mix with many modern themes like global warming and refugee crisis. The players are professionals trying to thrive in this society and undertake variety of dangerous missions, for money, fame or maybe chance to change the world.

How to prepare

Pc with browser and microphone is needed, webcam and stable internet connection is appreciated. I will explain the rules at the start and handle character creation at the same time. Dice rolling and character sheets will be handled by Foundry VTT. Discord account for group discussion is a bonus.

What I provide

I will bring VTT, tokens, maps and rules and sourcebooks. And also experience and hopefully fun.

Gameplay details

Before character creation at the beginning of session 0, there will group discussion about individual limits and topics to avoid. During the game, I will be using the X card safety tool in foundry. Content warnings - violence, exploitation, inequality. There is possibility of exploring the role of racism and xenophobia, but it would need to be consented by the whole group of players.

How will character creation work

We will create characters together at session 0. As is usual in a PbtA game, each player will select a playbook. Session 0 will also have cooperative discussion adding finishing details to the setting.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
