Dungeons & Dragons 5e

About the adventure

*** Session 0 *** The first session of this campaign will be a free session 0 on 02/04/23. When you sign up it will look like a paid game at the regular price ($15/session). After you sign up I'll be able to go in and manually change it to be a free game. During the session 0 we will: discuss game style/tone and safety tools, work through an technology issues, and talk character creation. I have tables that can help us establish links between characters. (Having these links really helps jumpstart your understanding of your character and building a party dynamic). *** The Game *** The Dragon of Icespire Peak is a small sandbox game that gets included in D&D starter sets, making it perfect for new players! With orcs, a manticore, wererats, and, of course, the dragon, the sleepy area around Phandalin is badly in need of new heroes. Will you be one of them?

How to prepare

Please have the following prepared for Session 0: - a Roll20 account - join my "D&D with Zac" discord server - a mic. - a webcam is optional but encouraged For Session 1 (and following) players should have a character ready, as well as: - a submitted "Consent in Gaming" form. - a character backstory. * Note: There will be links for most of this in your player dashboard after joining the campaign. If you don't see them, or have issues with the links, please feel free to message me.

What I provide

- Shareable content in Dndbeyond - Digital maps through Roll20 - A living, breathing world for you to explore! - Lots of silly voice acting!

Gameplay details

My goals is always to create a fun, immersive experience where you feel grounded in the moment. Whether you're relaxing in a tavern as your bard plays to the crowd, camped on a freezing mountain top, or sneaking into a dragon's lair, the magic of D&D comes in the moments when you're in tune with your character. That's when it's real! On a more practical level, I try to encourage roleplaying, while acknowledging that it can be hard. I also include exploration and combat in most sessions (because it's fun)!

How will character creation work

Characters for this campaign start at level 1. I allow any officially published material into my games. For UA or homebrew, please talk to me first and I'll make a decision on a case-by-case basis. For character attributes, please use either the standard array or 27 point buy. Starting equipment is either standard as listed in the PHB or you can take the average gold amount (ie, fighter gets 5d4 x 10 = 5 x 2.5 x 10 = 125 GP). *Note: If you attend a session 0 and/or submit a character backstory to me, you can start with a single +1 magic item (weapon or armor) that you could reasonably access. (That is to say, if you're level 1 you could have +1 chainmail but NOT +1 full plate).

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: Medium
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: None
