Demon Queen Awakens: The Vault of Aten

About the adventure

Over a thousand years ago the Demon Queen, Nehebkelat, and her four dread generals ruled an empire that spanned a continent. Her tyranny was opposed by an ancient and noble order, the Eyes of Aten, who after a century of terrible conflict defeated the dread generals and cast down the Demon Queen, imprisoning her for a thousand years. Those thousand years have now passed and the ancient order of protectors who imprisoned the Demon Queen has been lost to time. In The Demon Queen Awakens, the player characters represent the only heroes willing to assist the last surviving member of the Eyes of Aten - charged with the sacred duty of preventing Nehebkelat from escaping her prison. Upon entering the Vault of Aten, the heroes will realize this is no easy task. Dark forces have awoken to ensure that Nehebkelat will rise again and subjugate the continent beneath her abyssal rule. The Demon Queen Awakens is the first adventure officially written and created by the Foundry Virtual Tabletop team. The adventure is produced specifically for Foundry VTT and leverages all the advanced features of the software to provide a unique experience. The adventure is designed for a party of 9th level characters, taking 3 or 4 game sessions to complete, over Foundry, D&D Beyond & Discord.

How to prepare

Microphone, in a relatively quiet environment is required. Webcam is optional but highly preferred. It enhances communication significantly. You will be needing an account on D&D Beyond and Discord. (Both free) I will be providing access to a Discord server with detailed guides on all aspects of gameplay. Reading them is OPTIONAL, we will have time to go through everything together, during play. Please contact me in discord after you sign up to add you to the server or use the link provided in the prep material.

What I provide

Everything you will need for character creation on D&D Beyond, the Foundry VTT, deep knowledge of the game and the drive to make all of your ideas (crazy or not) into reality.

Gameplay details

We will be using gridded maps for tactical combat, enhanced with many of Foundries unique features to provide a complete experience. The focus will be on having fun sessions with many opportunities for the heroes to shine. We will be discussing expectations and safety. We will talk about lines, veils and limits to ensure it still remains a safe space without making anyone feel uncomfortable. For our safety tools, we will be using the X,N,O card system inside Foundry VTT, as well as Stars & Wishes at the end of each session. Should the above not prove enough, I'm always available for any concerns. The sessions will be weekly, online over Foundry, Discord and using D&D Beyond. We will be taking a 10 minute break at an appropriate point close to the middle of the session. There will be a zero tolerance policy on bullying, sexual harassment, racism, hate speech and prejudice. Those who do not abide by these standards will be kicked with no refund.

How will character creation work

There will be premade characters available. No character creation will happen during the game. Players who wish to create their own will have access to the entirety of the allowed character options on D&D Beyond, along with a detailed guide on how to do so, before the game begins.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
