The Death House - An introduction to the gothic horror of the Shadowfell.

About the adventure

Upon visiting a small town, you wander into a rundown district just after sunset. An unnatural fog begins to fill up the streets around you. A few feet ahead of you, you hear the sounds of a small child crying. You walk forward to investigate and find a young girl and her younger brother standing in the street, all alone. The boy clutches a small teddy bear to his chest and whimpers. He is hushed by the girl, and she turns to you, eyes filled with sadness and terror. "There's a monster in our house!" she says, imploring you to help. You ask her where her house is, and she points to a tall brick house standing alone, the fog parting ways as though to show you the way. You bid the children to stay put; that you'll be back when the monster is dead. As you approach the house, the rusty gate on the portico swings slowly open; the creaking permeating the silence around you. 'Just the wind', you tell yourself. You summon your courage and step inside. As the gate closes automatically behind you, you catch a glimpse of the girl. You see her mouth curl up in a twisted smile, just before the fog rolls back in and hides the outside world from sight. You don't know it yet, but you have just entered the Shadowfell. Welcome to the Death House! The Death House is a beginner mini-adventure designed to introduce players to the gothic horror of the shadowfell and, more specifically, the Curse of Strahd campaign, though it can be used to just have a fun, creepy time. This is an adventure for 3-5 1st level characters, which, if they don't die, will progress them to level 3 by the end. I use tabletop simulator for the games visuals, which I stream to zoom for players to make choices for their characters. You do not need tabletop simulator to play. I also use DnD Beyond, so having an account is helpful, but not entirely necessary as long as you have a way to print character sheets. 1st level characters should be made before the event. Message me for questions about character creation before the meeting (preferably 24 hours beforehand). I have premade characters, if you want to get out of your comfort zone and try something new, though you can bring your own characters, at 3rd level or below.

How to prepare

Microphone and headset is most likely required to avoid room noise. Webcams optional. Characters made before hand or use of pre-generated characters available. DnD beyond account or character sheets and dice needed. Access to the Zoom app or web browser needed.

How will character creation work

Pre-generated characters available for those looking to just get started and/or a change of pace. If you plan on creating a new character at third level, please do so before the event. Message me if interested in a possible pre-event meeting for character creation.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
