About the adventure

The desert Kingdom of Alk’Hara has been experiencing a mysterious shortage of livestock over the past season. Raising any kind of animal in this harsh environment is challenging, so any decrease in available protein hits the economy quickly. Your group has been hired to deliver a wagon full of wild game to the capital of Alk’Hara to help the city’s noble families supplement their meat supplies. The journey through the wastelands of the Alk’Haran desert is known to be perilous, so the pay is good. A famous company of wild game hunters and meat merchants known as Tabletop Game has funded your journey. You have been given a wagon, two horses to pull it, and supplies for the journey. The wagon is loaded with crates of meat, sealed magically to keep them cool and stable in the relentless heat. You have been told that if the seal is broken, the enchantment will end, and the cost of the lost meat will come out of your final pay. It is of the utmost importance that the seals not be tampered with. You are three days into a 10-day journey. The heat of the oppressive afternoon sun beats down upon you. The landscape in all directions is endless dunes of sand with a scattering of rocky outcroppings far in the distance. The circling buzzards overhead are the only sign of life outside your small group. Cult of the Maw is a creepy themed one-shot adventure that has some unexpected twists and turns along the way.
