The Blood Moon: A Beginners Urban Shadows Campaign

About the adventure

Stars. Planets. Moons. From the beginning of time, the positions of celestial bodies have had effects on both the natural and the supernatural. Oracles watched and predicted the ebb and flow of supernatural energies for centuries, but never anything this big. The blood moon will be like nothing that we have seen before and produce a power long sought after by most: true immortality. But who will harness it? This will be an Urban Shadows campaign set in modern day Los Angeles. It is very player centric; the choices made both in character creation and throughout will determine the type of story that is told. Be prepared for drama, plot twists, and much suspense.

How to prepare

You must have a working webcam and microphone. Also make sure you have a discord, Zoom, and Roll20 account (all are free). You can either roll your own dice or use Roll20 for that.

I will provide any PDFs and handouts necessary. This includes maps, playbooks, reference sheets, etc.

Gameplay details

Urban Shadows is a Powered by the Apocalypse political urban fantasy game. It is not your typical "adventuring party" TTRPG. Most of the campaign will not be spent with every character in the same scenes. There may be whole sessions where your character does not see another PC. Rather, play will proceed with me cycling through scenes with each PC determined by where they are headed or who they want to talk to in order to accomplish the goals that they set. Possible content warnings include violence, betrayal, supernatural themes, and death. Safety tools that will be used are open table policy; lines and veils; X, N, and O cards; and stars and wishes.

How will character creation work

Character will happen during the session zero. The only part necessary beforehand is to choose which playbook you want, which can be discussed with other players in the discord beforehand.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
