    About the adventure

A troupe of traveling performers arrives in Waterdeep to headline Mystra's Magical Moot, an annual industry trade show and convention for spellcasters of all kinds. While wandering the City of Splendors, they accidentally intercept a coded message intended for an operative of the Harpers. In it, they learn of a Zhentarim plot to steal a new magical invention from the grand hall during the Moot! Hijinks and hilarity ensue in this Scooby-Doo-style mystery!

    How to prepare

Players will need a webcam, a microphone, and a high-speed internet connection in order to play. As I mentioned before, pre-generated characters are available upon request, or I'm happy to meet with players in advance to walk them through character creation for an additional hourly fee. I would recommend watching a couple episodes of the old Scooby-Doo or Josie and the Pussycats cartoons from the 70's to get into the swing of things. As for knowing the rules ahead of time, that certainly helps, but I'm more than happy to help new players navigate their way through their sheets and the mechanics of the game as we go.

    What I provide

I will provide the links to D&D Beyond, Zoom, and/or Roll20 in order to run the game. Players who request pre-gen characters are welcome to export the sheets in PDF format after the game and use them in future adventures!

    Gameplay Details

This adventure leans very heavily on the "social" pillar of D&D. A comedic mystery, The Bard Brigade also features heavy doses of espionage. Players are going to want to try talking first, and will be encouraged to speak in character. It is possible to play this entire adventure without making an attack roll, even once. There are a couple puzzles, but really it comes down to how quick the players can think on their feet, and whether or not they have good poker faces. This adventure is good for first-time role players or for D&D players seeking a change of pace from the Dungeon Crawl grind.

    How will character creation work

This adventure is intended for level 1 characters. I prefer to use D&D Beyond or Roll20 to manage character sheets. I'm happy to meet with players ahead of time to generate their characters with them ahead of the session if they need help. Also, pre-generated characters are available upon request (and recommended)!

    Players can expect

    • Combat/Tactics: Low
    • Roleplay: High
    • Puzzles: Medium
