Terrors on the Stonemarch Part One: The Outpost.

About the adventure

Something horrid lurks in the peaks of the Stonemarch as entire caravans vanish, ancient tribes abandon their ancestral home, speaking of a long forgotten curse coming to pass. In these dark times Winterhaven stands as the last bastion between the mountain terrors and the valley stretching eastward. Within the mountains a lone outpost has gone dark; their final message arriving upon the gates of Winterhaven a week prior, a single horse bearing a dead rider. A tattered scrap of parchment clenched tight in the corpse's frozen grasp. Bloody prints and a single phrase scrawled in messy quill work. One final plea to the world for help. "They're upon us." Players will begin in a small camp at the base of the mountains after being hired to lead a reconnaissance effort to observe and report on the status of the outpost to a garrison of troops moving along broader mountain paths one to two days march behind the party. Part one of a three part series of one shot adventures interconnected for a single overarching epic.

How to prepare

players need a working mic and an audio device that will allow them to accurately hear and understand myself and their fellow players. If on zoom a webcam is preferred. Player should have their own Dice but dice bots or software are acceptable.

What I provide

I will provide miniatures and game maps in PDF form only and all needed content for running the game. Battle maps through camera view if on zoom and PDF form on zoom. Roll20 games will use this map with the usual token markers for character and NPC/ enemy locations.

Gameplay details

There is no sexual content within this one shot or the overarching episodic series it is apart of . This game uses horror and suspense themes and devices for mood and setting. The world overall uses similar themes to uphold the mood intended for gothic and gritty feel of the story. Mild gore is used. I would rate the story above TV-14 but not quite to R rated , something in the range of upper PG-13.

How will character creation work

The module is designed for 6th level characters. Player should have characters prepared ahead of time using the point buy system in the D&D 5th edition players handbook. Race and class are not restricted but must be from a published fifth edition book. No homebrew content even if listed on DND Beyond.

Players can expect
