About the adventure

Games that I run have: Expert DMing and improvisational skills šŸ§™ā€ā™‚ļøšŸŽ Professional/Animated battlemaps šŸ—ŗ šŸŒ† Spell effects šŸŽ† Voice acting šŸ”Š The seating at each session is first-come first-served to a max of 6, though preference is given to folks that haven't played recently. The West Marches is an open-table style of game that encourages player-driven goals. West of the kingdoms of men lies the Griffet Marches: it is a region full of wild magic, ages-old relics, riches, and terrible dangers. Your character is the center of their own story, working alongside other characters that have their own desires for risking their lives for good, glory, or gold! Before each session, the group that's headed out decides on what location they want to explore based on the map and rumors. At the end of the session, the group heads back to town for a rest! Once cleared out, locations like ruined keeps or temples can be reclaimed by characters wishing to build their own strongholds. This game uses the "Level Up Advanced 5th Edition" system- basically 5e DnD but with redesigned character classes and a more thorough ruleset. šŸŽ² If you know how to play original D&D 5e, the core mechanics are basically the same- it's an easy transition. šŸ˜Ž You can read more about a5e here: https://www.levelup5e.com/about - https://a5e.tools/rules/adventurers-guide

Gameplay details

Players can expect relatively fast-paced 5e D&D tactical combat, roleplaying opportunities, and exploration of dark and dangerous locations. D&D is, as a system, focused on combat- but there are opportunities for negotiation with intelligent foes, NPCs to befriend, and exploration galore, all waiting for you to seize them! This is a fantasy world that includes combat, death, dangers, and magic. Please voice any issues (ex. arachnophobia) before or, if necessary, during play- this is an entertaining and engaging experience, mild discomfort may occur depending on the vividness of your imagination, but you should never be made more uncomfortable than you're comfortable with, if that makes sense :) 'Romantic' encounters are fade to black (the bard and the barman are into one-another, that night they meet, fade to black on that). Descriptions of blood, death, violence, etc. are present but are not a focus- the intent is to draw you into the scene, not to upset you with vivid descriptions of torture or death.

How will character creation work

The first session of the game will include a 'Session 0,' where we create characters together, discuss the party and any relationships between characters, align expectations for the game and more. If players are new to Dungeons & Dragons, we'll go over what to expect from a tabletop roleplaying game in general. It's fun once you realize that you're in an open world and can make the decisions you like (albeit with consequences ;) )! If necessary or desired, pre-generated characters are available. After the completion of this portion, we can begin the adventure with the remaining time!

Players can expect

  • Roleplay: Medium
