About the adventure

The continent of Aylith is a fractious, dangerous place; from the magic-warped wasteland of the Expanse to the depths of the Fell Caverns and the peaks of the Echo Crags. The citizens of the Republic might believe that they're safe behind the facade of civilization, but in truth they are no less vulnerable. In the Republic territory of Edwardela, a series of strange and bizarre crimes has taken place; the abduction of government property, the machinations of a burgeoning religious group, and the tension of various factions have all begun to stir in mysterious concert. You are an independent contractor hired by the Republic group known as S.P.E.C.T.R.U.M. (the Supernatural, Paranormal, and Extraplanar Combat Tactics, Recon Undercover Militia) to investigate these events. As an agent of the government, you operate under the title of R.E.A.P.E.R. (Republic Elite Arcane Paranormal and Esoteric Responder) and must quietly investigate these events all while avoiding the public eye. Your reasons for doing so are your own; perhaps you seek coin and resources, or maybe you seek redemption and freedom. Whatever the case, you and your fellow agents must battle against the forces of the unknown if you have any hope of bringing to light the Machiavellian plot of an antediluvian evil. Are you up to the task, or will you falter like all those that've come before you? Your fate, and the fate of so many others rests in your hands.

How to prepare

A rough character concept is best, but beyond having the resources needed to track their characters and keep notes there aren't many prerequisites. Creating a Discord, Roll20, and Zoom account will be necessary for information and play, but the free version of all of the above should be sufficient for our needs. Character art is also a plus for the creation of tokens, but by no means a prerequisite. Typically, I use the honor system and let players roll real dice but if you choose to use and online dice roller or app that is also acceptable.

What I provide

I supply the setting, lore, battle maps, and other gaming aids. I am also fortunate enough to be blessed with the friendship of many talented artists so if need be I can help you find character art that's right for you.

Gameplay details

Tales of Aylith: Worth of a Soul is a steam-fantasy western campaign that tackles numerous mature themes. That being said, the Session 0/Monte Cook's Consent Checklist are both steps I take to be able to combat issues that players might have and attempt to sensitively address certain concerns. Additionally, I use Discord as a resource not only to keep track of things like player information and session logs but as a way for players to privately message me when we are approaching a topic that they consider to be triggering or in poor taste.

How will character creation work

During Session 0 (which will be arranged on the private Discord page and will be free) we will go over things like setting specific events, cultural and racial standings, custom rules, and 3rd party resources. Players will be starting out at level one and we will use milestone leveling for simplicities sake. I will also keep a backup of the players information should they be absent or lose their character sheets.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: High
