About the adventure

Beginner-friendly 🔰 Alternate '80s 📼 Sci-fi Horror 👽😱 Play as Kids 👩🏼👧🏾🧑👦🏽 There are whispering rumors that it is back again. The mummy down by the lake. Roaming the beaches by night, looking for something, hungering after something. It will be up to the Kids to solve this mystery. Tales from the Loop is set in an alternate 1980s where robots, flying machines and the cooling towers for a huge underground particle accelerator are common sights in your home town. Players will assume the roles of kids between the ages of 10 to 15 years, where even in the midst of fantastic machines and strange events, everyday life seems dull and unforgiving and adults are out of reach and out of touch. How to prepare

No prep is necessary. The rules will be taught at the start of the session and as we play. A mic is required. Discord needs to be installed. Foundry VTT will be accessed via a web browser.

Gameplay details

This game uses a simplified version of the Year Zero Engine from Free League Publishing. It is easy to learn and easy to play. There will be a lot of roleplaying and some collaborative world-building involved. The aim of this session is to have fun experiencing a story together, regardless of whether a "win" condition is achieved. At the start of the session, we will state our lines (content we don't want appearing in the game) and veils (content we don't want described graphically). We will also have X-cards available so that either person can play them at any point during the game if something being said upsets them. When an X-card is played, we will rewind and re-describe what's happening in the story.

How will character creation work

We will create our characters together at the start of the session. I will walk you through the process and you will have a chance to discuss character relationships with the other players. The character archetypes available are: Bookworm Computer Geek Hick Jock Popular Kid Rocker Troublemaker Weirdo
