About the adventure
The year is 1479 DR. You've recently been accepted into the King's Swords, an elite guard of soldiers and scouts serving His Majesty King Foril The First, ruler of the land of Cormyr. You and your companions find yourself invested with the task of discovering the whereabouts of Gilles de Beauchamp, a courtesan, diplomatic envoy and trusted friend of the crown who disappeared in mysterious circumstances: as he was visiting an acquaintance of his, some lordling from a the backwater swampland north of Marsember, both he and his host vanished during a hunting foray, leaving only the mangled body of the old game warden to attest of their fate - most likely a grizzly one ! You are to track down the vanished nobleman and bring him back safe and sound... or at least recover his body and bring him back to his family in Suzail, so that they can give him the last rites.
How to prepare
You will need to have a functioning mic, decent internet connection and access to Roll20. A previous knowledge of both 5e system and Roll20 functionalities is useful, but not necessary. What I provide
As your DM I will provide all necessary tools to help you visualize the game, including: battle maps, atmospheric sounds / music, NPCs and Character Portraits, illustrations, etc.
= THE SETTING = I've chosen Cormyr (from the official Wizards of the Coast's Forgotten Realms setting) as the backdrop for this one-shot, but added my own take on things to give the Kingdom of Cormyr a bit of a Three Musketeers' atmosphere: swordfights are mostly fencing-oriented, duels amongst the gentry are commonplace, etc... The setting is pretty low-magic (spellcasters still do exist, but their spells aren't as dramatic as in high-fantasy genre) and there are also primitive muskets and other firearms available. Basically think more 'early 17th-century Europe', rather than 'epic medieval Middle-Earth' on this one... (-; = GAME STYLE = This is meant to be a sword-and-dagger style of adventure, so expect some interactions with different NPCs, a bit of investigative exploring / wall-scaling and one or two exciting swordfights ! = SAFETY TOOLS = LINES & VEILS: players are welcomed and encouraged to discuss with the DM and warn about difficult IRL themes that can be encountered / should be avoided in-game, either before or after the sessions. WARNING ! Includes an NPC with special needs / learning disabled. If you're not comfortable with this subject, please refer to me through Private Messaging previous to session start and we will try to find a decent way to lead into this part of the story.
