    About the adventure

"Ladies, gentlemen, friends, and friends: give it up for our contestants on this season of Dungeon of the Mad Mage! Might they brave the horrors of Undermountain and emerge victorious!" ⭐Be the star! Get likes! Destroy your enemies with style! 💪🏻Climb your way all the way to level 20! 📺Transplanar advertisements and sponsorship opportunities! ⚔️Enjoy a classic dungeon crawl experience with a twist! Dungeon of the Mad Mage is an epic adventure taking you all the way to level 20 - this is NOT the standard published adventure, we lean hard into the game show theme drawing from pop culture and books like "Dungeon Crawler Carl." What players say about Mad Mage - Gonzo Game Show edition: 🗣️"DM Eric takes a very long dungeon crawl and turns it into a spectacular tale of insanity and show-elf-ship." -Steve 🗣️"If the Mad Hatter and a 70's gameshow had a lovechild... that would be the Dungeon of the Mad Mage with DM Eric V!" -Ben 🗣️"If your ven diagram includes D&D, The Hunger Games, and the Mad Hatter... have we got a game for you." -Ahloren Expect a ridiculously good time full of challenging fights, laughter, and camaraderie. Only a few will enter, and to survive you need to hack, slash, parlay, and most of all; be as entertaining way possible. Answer the casting call now!

    How to prepare

✔️A computer capable of running web-based programs ✔️Decent internet access ✔️Audio input (a headset/good microphone) ✔️Discord (free download or browser-based) ✔️DndBeyond account (free) ✔️Above VTT (free) downloaded from the chrome store An effort to be acquainted with the rules is certainly appreciated by both the DM and other players as we are playing at a high level, but I can get newer players on board quickly.

    What I provide

☑️ Custom upgraded maps of each level of the Dungeon ☑️ Several books of 3rd party material to enhance the experience ☑️ Everything published by WotC for 5e ☑️ Shareable content in DnDBeyond ☑️ A ridiculously simple and intuitive VTT that focuses on gameplay ☑️ Custom "game show" elements that result in a gonzo dungeon experience ☑️ Modified monsters and challenges appropriate for high-level play ☑️ A sincere passion for the world's best roleplaying game

    Gameplay details

We will be using "Above VTT" for maps for reference and combat. If you haven't used it before you are in for a treat, all the character sheets and maps are in one place as above VTT turns DnD beyond into a tabletop! I strongly encourage roleplay, out-of-the-box thinking, and acting in a manner consistent with what your character would do. You don't have to do the voices or anything, just think - what would my character do? There is going to be plenty of combat in this one and a ton of exploration but I leave plenty of room for roleplay between party members and NPCs of the world. This particular module is quite combat-heavy but there is some room for role play in the team and within the environment especially as we lean hard into the game-show motif. "Be cool. Have fun." Players at my table can expect an environment that promotes teamwork, beating monsters up, and telling a shared story. If you like to slow things down and nitpick at rules to "beat the game" this isn't the table for you. I marked "all ages" because everyone has a different line of what is appropriate - I would say 16+ would be about right. All are welcome but fair warning the content may not be appropriate for all audiences. The safety system is based on the TTRPG Safety Toolkit by Kienna Shaw and Lauren Bryant-Monk. We will use Red X (stop!) yellow (caution) and green (keep going) cards. Consent and rules via google form before gameplay. Zero tolerance policy for any harassment or discrimination based on race, creed color, gender, sexual orientation, and the like. DM reserves the right to remove a player immediately if in violation of any of the ground rules.

    How will character creation work

Point buy or standard array character creation on DndBeyond. Build a character that is fun for YOU to play as and fun for OTHERS to play with. Most books and options are open, exotic choices cleared with DM.

    Players can expect
