About the adventure

Death plays a vital role in both the daily life and the minds of Svillanders. Even small children are taught to recognize, accept, and behave with the knowledge of death. In this wild land of rugged people, death is just part of life, and might not be as sad as other parts of the world. Svillanders strive for death in battle, with Valhalla awaiting them with all its glory and magnificence; however, not all in Svilland seek to grace the halls of the great one-eyed god. These are they who follow Hel. Following the path of Hel is taboo for most, as her domain of pain and misery bring a sense of fear. Especially after the beloved god Balder fell into Hellheim at the hands of Hel and Loki, Svillanders grow even more wary about their futures. For if a god can fall to Hel's grasp, than how are we supposed to stand strong? In this adventure, heroes will find themselves in the midst of an ongoing conflict between two powerful deities: Hel and Freyja. The followers of Hel gather their strength to invade Svilland with an army of terrors from Helheim. Freyja represents all that we live for and as she loses her power to the might of Hel, Svilland also loses its liveliness. The land has become more barren than it already was, and sickness and death plagues our people. We need a savior. Will you answer the call?

How to prepare

Players should review the basic 5e rules. I am available to answer questions for new players before our first session. Players will also need to create a Roll20 and a Discord profile. For the best experience, players should also have a mic and webcam for each session.

I will provide all necessary source material on Roll20 and Discord that we will need for our campaign.

Gameplay details

This adventure takes place in a Brutal Norse setting, and as such, may contain graphic and gory components which may not be suitable for all players. We will discuss this and any lines and veils during our session zero. As far as gameplay goes, expect fun, fast-paced combat using a homebrewed Viking warband ruleset with setting-specific races and classes. Expect an immersive story in a rich world where your character can make an impact.

How will character creation work

Characters will all begin at first level. We will make characters during our session zero, where we will discuss new character options for this setting. Character sheets will be provided by me in Roll20.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
