About the adventure

This is a high-level (14+) campaign, which tracks the epic tale of the players' characters as they uncover pieces of their dark pasts, and face a host of threats. This campaign has been ongoing for more than a year, and the current players have well-developed characters with backstories, goals, and fears that define the campaign. The players are encouraged to help build the story as it develops, and each player can opt to craft their own epic tale, or to help others achieve their goals, or do both. Most current players are experienced role-players and RPG tacticians, but newer players are also welcome if they would like to participate in a dynamic, and sometimes even contentious (in-game) party of very unique individuals. Entrance to this game is contingent upon the other players' approval, as this campaign requires high player interaction and the necessity of cohesive player dynamics. You are encouraged to "listen in" and watch a session on Discord, or watch the game on fantasy grounds to see if it is right or you and the other players.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players will need a computer and a microphone. These sessions will be using Fantasy Grounds Unity. Players can get a free copy of the FG Unity software at www.FantasyGrounds.com . Players who are new to Fantasy Grounds will want to review the tutorial video available online (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hU6OlMAgGQg&t=662s)

What I provide

The GM will bring the Fantasy Grounds Unity Ultimate package, which allows players to play for free. In addition, the GM will provide all other material necessary to play, including, digital content, such as maps, modules, and extensions for a smooth-running, efficient game, focused on playing rather than technical configurations.

Gameplay details

As in most RPGs, this game will contain simulated combat and scenes of violence, which are an integral part of the rule system. However, there is rarely any need for specific gory details, and often an abstract phrase such as "defeated the monsters" will take place rather then "you have slayed/killed/murdered," etc. Be advised, however, that in some instances, graphic details may need to be provided to illustrate the scene (i.e. "your fireball incinerates the hobgoblins, and the room now stinks of burnt flesh"). These descriptors are thematic only, and not intended to be the driving impetus of the creatures' and players' motivations in the campaign. Players who feel uncomfortable with such scenes are encouraged to ask for breaks, or contact the GM personally, while the group re-evaluates everyone's comfort level. There will be no judgment or penalties directed toward players who are not comfortable with specific scenes.

How will character creation work

Characters will begin at 14th level. Each new character will be allowed 1 rare, 2 uncommon magic items, and 250 gold pieces, in addition to the starting gear allowed by the D&D source books. Players may create their character using D&D Beyond, and import the xml file into Fantasy Grounds. Alternately, players with experience with Fantasy Grounds may simply create their characters in Fantasy Grounds.
