About the adventure
Take my love, take my land, Take me where I cannot stand. I don't care, I'm still free, You can't take the sky from me. - Ballad of Serenity by Joss Whedon ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You have decided to enroll into Spelljammer Academy for reasons known only to you, and whoever you tell, and probably a few people you didn't mean to tell. Here you are expected to learn the ways of spelljamming and fight the good fight! Lessons include space flight, space fight, and just being in space in general. But don't worry, this won't be your normal spacefaring bootcamp, there is also a mysterious force that is busy doing . . . mysterious AND (sometimes) dangerous things! Spelljammer Academy takes you from your very first day at the academy to well beyond the stars in only FOUR three hour sessions. This is a perfect mini-campaign for those brand new to D&D5e and/or the Spelljammer setting. Veteran players will also be able to enjoy this light hearted romp through space. There's a little something for everyone! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What is Spelljammer? The term "Spelljammer" refers to a few things, so it can get confusing fast. - One, it is a D&D setting where you travel on 'spaceships' and go through 'space.' - Two, it is the general name of the 'spaceship' you travel through 'space' with. - Three, it is the name of the pilot on a 'spaceship' that travels through 'space.' I used the terms 'spaceship' and 'space' to cut down on confusion. The most important part of all that is when you play a Spelljammer game, expect some fantasy and sci-fi elements to mix together. Think like "Treasure Planet", "Atlantis", or the great "Firefly."

How to prepare
You will need to have a Discord, Roll20, and DND Beyond account. We will be using Discord for Video/Voice chat, as well as a hub for out of game chat. We will be using Roll20 for maps and rolls. Finally, we will be using DND Beyond for characters. I have most sources and will be inviting you to a campaign on there. Before Session 1, you need to familiarize yourself with your character and read through the basic rules. ***A note on webcams: The default assumption is that everyone will have their webcam turned on. However, as someone who taught during the pandemic, I know that there a million reasons why you might not want yours on. Players have every right to never turn on their webcams. However, I will always encourage you too if you are able.
