About the adventure

The world, Typhon, is peaceful enough, long protected by the gods who have been watching over it since the defeat of Ouroboros, The Great Serpent who attempted to eat the world. For thousands of years have the gods protected us ffrom the gods and denizens of the other worlds residing in the body of The Serpent. Until now. Following the death of OTR, the god of peace and the ocean, killed by the traitor Clarion, the gods blasted Clarion and the city he was standing in into the sea and retreated into slumber. 50 years have passed, and the advent of a new set of gods is predicted from the body of the Serpent. Who will reconnect the cities which were largely disconnected since the gods disappeared? Who will protect us from the awakening threat?

How to prepare

You will need a microphone to play. While technically not required, it will be difficult to get a word in if you are the only one without a mic. You will need an account for Roll20 and Discord You will need to bring a character sheet consistent with the edition we will be playing, but I will be happy to help people who need it. I will need to see your character to approve it, and ensure it follows the rules we set up beforehand. You should have a backstory written out. It doesn't need to be particularly in-depth if you don't want to. Just basic information. "Who are your parents? What did they do? What are your current goals? What was your job up until this point? Where did you grow up?" As long as this information is included, I will be able to tie you into the game. Everything else is optional.

What I provide

I will share a copy of the Maps and Handouts. I will also provide Help with character generation for those who need it.

Gameplay details

The gameplay of this setting is very open-ended. There are opportunities for exploration, roleplaying, and dungeon-diving. talking in character is not a strict necessity, but I will reward roleplaying and backstory-building with experience bonuses and tailored plot-hooks. Similarly, if you decide you want to play sub optimally for the sake of your character, that will definitely be noticed and rewarded, so long as it is enjoyable for the others at the table. There will be little overworld combat, there may be the occasional wild animal or monster. Though, that may change if the players do something to make the world much more dangerous to live in. Most combat will be restricted to direct consequences of the players' actions or on a delve into one of the many dungeons or dangerous places dotting the world. There will be few riddles in the game, though dungeons may have puzzles. There will be plenty of mysteries to solve in cities, towns, and dungeons, should you choose to look for them, though. Anyone is welcome to join, regardless of experience. The first hour of the game will be devoted to explaining the setting and introducing characters, as well as discussing details of how the game will be run.
