About the adventure

Take your party on a quest through a tomb safeguarding an ancient power. When the tomb’s magical defenses fail, will your party be able to hold off attackers, or will evil finally prevail? A one-shot adventure for 4 to 6 characters of 6th level, but can be tweaked to accommodate as few as 2 players. The party is contacted by an envoy of the Alabaster Academy, a collective of good-aligned wizards. Two hundred years ago, the Alabaster Academy defeated a powerful lich named Argov Arathen. However, they were unable to destroy Argov's enchanted phylactery. Instead, they buried it in a sealed tomb filled with magical defenses. A recent earthquake has broken open the tomb, and the Alabaster Academy has received word that sinister forces seek to claim the phylactery. The Alabaster Academy is sending a team to secure the tomb more permanently, but they won't arrive soon enough. The wizards require a group of capable adventurers to defend the tomb until reinforcements arrive. At all costs, the interlopers must not be allowed to claim the phylactery and risk unleashing Argov into the world again. This adventure is for new and old players, alike. All are welcome here!

How to prepare

I plan to run this game on Roll20, so players should have an account and it is preferred that players have a mic. If players built a character on D&DBeyond, it is highly recommended that they download the Beyond20 extension. Players do not need prior experience or knowledge of the rules.

What I provide

We are playing online, so I will provide digital game components like maps, tokens, etc. If players wish, they can provide an image for me to use for their character portrait and character token. If a player doesn't provide this, I will us a placeholder image.

Gameplay details

Players should expect a light and fun environment with a patient DM who doesn't mind players asking questions. As written, this adventure is a good mix of combat, exploration and roleplay. Some parts may be cut as time allows. The rating for this adventure ranges between PG and PG-13 depending on the players, but there is no explicit content of any kind. Players should respect each other. No player vs player. Playful banter is ok. Before the game starts, I will go over things like player boundaries, game structure, breaks, etc.

How will character creation work

Player characters should be level 6, but it may differ depending on how may players we have. I can provide pre-generated characters or I can help to guide players through character creation. If we create characters, it should be done before the game, preferably on D&DBeyond.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: High
  • Roleplay: Medium
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: Open to all
