How to prepare

-You will want to have a computer that can connect to Discord as well as a microphone so that we can hear you. Webcam functionality is available though I do not require that players have their webcams on. -Your character sheet will be on a form fillable PDF. This can be accessed and edited using free online applications which I can assist in guiding you toward. -I run games using the theater of the mind. Maps, tokens and so on will occasionally be helpful. For these purposes, I may show maps through the Discord screenshare feature and I may use Google jamboard for collaborative drawing, mapping or listing. This can be done in your browser. -Dice rolling can be done physically or using dice rollers built into my Discord server. All togehter, all you need to play with me is a computer that is connected to the internet with Discord and an up to date web browser installed.

What I provide

I will provide you with all the rules and character sheets you will need.

Gameplay details

This game contains over the top action, comic violence and occasional gruesome acts on the part of villains such as eating things alive or torturing NPCs. This kind of behaviour is most frequently "off camera". In this game we will be playing as epic pirate captains in a confederacy based out of the Anchorage Archepelago. We will have robust mechanics built in to help your character feel as over the top and heroic as any famous pirate of history or myth. The game will focus on the interactions of our hero pirates with hidden treasures, lost locations and impossible beings. As such each episode will balance role play with puzzles or riddles and mechanics based challenges like combat and social challenges. Fate is a mechanics light rule system that allows for a wide range of character concepts and can be easily adjusted for any story being told. This game is played with 4d6 to determine any actions where there is a chance of failure. These rolls are adjusted using skills and the special and self defined elements of your character. This puts your imagination and the character you want to play ahead of the game's mechanics in the effect of your actions.

How will character creation work

Our first session will be devoted to building characters together so that ideas can be bounced off of one another and our heroes will makes sense within their own context. This will also allow me to help in the course of building aspects and stunts.
