About the adventure

In Icewind Dale, adventure is a dish best served cold. Come join in on the latest adventure campaign for Dungeons & Dragons. Race across Ten Towns as survivors cope with endless night and punishing storms. Despair leeches away hope as evil seizes wealth and power in the crumbling vestiges of life in the bitter north. This game will have a narrative focus, and will be very forgiving for people new to the hobby. It may not suit veteran players looking for a hard-edged experience and mechanical challenge. Send me a message if you have questions or concerns. Secrets in the ice, burning villages, invisible tormentors, and a steady march into the clutches of a merciless goddess. What destiny awaits you in Icewind Dale?

How to prepare

You will need a mic, and you'll want to test it on discord. I will be on webcam, but you do not need to. We will be playing on roll20. Please log in ahead of time and check your settings. You'll want to disable voice and video on roll20 so there is no conflict. Please contact me ahead of time to make sure your character is set up in roll20 before the game begins.

What I provide

I have the campaign all ready to go on roll20. I'll deviate here and there, or possibly throw in some additional adventure material, but you can expect a classic Frostmaiden experience.

Gameplay details

I like to keep my games moving. If a battle is turning tedious, or group discussions are spinning in circles, I have no problem 'fast forwarding' to interesting moments. This usually involves a cinematic summary of events wrapping up the situation. I try to tailor my games to the players. What sort of banter do they prefer? Do we want to keep chat to a minimum? Are people comfortable talking in first person with eccentric shopkeepers? I'll adjust my expectations to meet the group. Consent is an important touchstone in my games. All players involved in social scenes or group dynamics need to be comfortable with game content. If one player is not interested in having their character teased in game, the interaction will not happen. I have no problem retconning uncomfortable moments in game. I've worked with players of all ages, backgrounds, and experience. I work to make my players feel heard and valued. My games are ideal for people who are nervous joining other games of D&D.

How will character creation work

I'd like to have characters created beforehand. I will help set up character sheets and tokens. I will work with players in the days leading up to a game to make sure their character is ready to go. If a player does not have a character ready, they can use a premade for a session or two until they get their own character ready. I do not have any resources on dndbeyond. If you want to use that service to manage your character in roll20, no problem. I just won't be able to assist with that software. Check with me about current character level. We will use official, printed WotC character materials. Standard array for stats. Standard starting gear.
