About the adventure

In the year 1998, Racoon city fell victim to a viral outbreak of the Umbrella Corporation's bioweapon, the T-Virus. An incident in a local secret laboratory complex lead to infected animals escaping into the city, & infecting the populace. The virus spread like wildfire, & turned its victims into reanimated corpses. Zombies. Now Racoon City is overrun with T-Virus infected zombies, & the survivors inside have to escape it, before they too join the undead hordes. This Chronicles of Darkness game will be an action run & gun style horror chronicle, based on the lore & universe of the Resident Evil franchise. The game will take place during the events of the Racoon City Incident, & focus on one of three groups(players choice) within the city. The Military - The US Army & National Guard where deployed shortly into the infection, mistaking the zombies for rioters & some sort of insurrection taking place. You will play enlisted military personal, who are sent in to help handle the rioters, & shortly there after realize that your dealing with something far worse. The RPD & First Responders - Members of the racoon city police department, paramedic first responders & fire department are the group that is at ground zero. This is your home, you live here & know these places. And you know something is very wrong, this isnt just a riot. Umbrella Spec Ops Team - Umbrella knows that Racoon city is a lost cause, but there is still crucial information that is kept in some of its research facilities in the city, so its sending in one its spec ops teams to retrieve it. This groups is likely given the most information out of the three that there is a real bioweapon threat, but they still dont know exactly what the T-Virus does, just that exposure to it means certain death. ______________ The zero session for this game will be the next scheduled game once we reach 3 players. Players that sign up will not be charged until we hit our minimum players. This will be a high octane run & gun style game, with access to alot of heavy duty firearms & equipment. We will be using chronicles of darkness to run this, as while your highly trained professionals in your field your still dealing with what is at its core, a zombie apocalypse overrunning the city. Players will be able to select one of the 3 groups they would like to play as during our zero session & make characters appropriate for that background. But be forewarned, there is no cure for the T-virus. If your infected, its not a matter of if you will turn, but WHEN. Additionally, if there is enough interest from different groups by the time we start, I am willing to make this a multi group chronicle, with up to 3 groups of players affecting each other. So if one of the groups blows up a section of the city trying to get away, the other 2 will be effected by it.

How to prepare

A discord account with quality microphone that allows for clear communication with a stable internet connection. Familiarity with the Chronicles of Darkness rules is good but not required, as I will be supplying reference material via foundry for all the basic rules.

What I provide

I will be supplying the Foundry VTT for use with our game, with all the basic rules of Chronicles of Darkness input into it. Full custom created maps using dungeondraft & assets I've programed for it specifically for use with the Chronicles of Darkness.

Gameplay details

Most sessions will be a mixture of investigation, role playing & combat depending on where the current plot line is going. In this particular chronicle, there is likely a much higher chance of combat then others, but they will be quick & bloody ones. Also not all combats are ones the players can win, if they wish to conserve ammo. We will be using equipment content from Armory/Armory Reloaded(no supernatural items) & limited entries from Hurt Locker. Ammo will be SCARCE. Tracking how much ammo you are carrying will be one of your most important resources in the game. Combat is also very dangerous & realistic, so characters becoming injured or close to death isnt impossible. Character deaths are uncommon but possible, depending on the actions of the party. I use high detail maps on foundry for major battle moments, as well as regular locations. The nature of this game does mean that 75% of the combat encounters will be theatre of the mind, while there will be maps for big plot moments. Content Warning : Descriptions of supernatural murder & horror(which may or may not occur to player characters). Violence. Obscene/vulgar language(cursing) Adult themes(sex, drinking, criminal activity) Sexual content will always fade to black if it occurs, & will never occur between player characters unless all involved players consent. Lines & veils will also be honored & set up ahead of the chronicle via discord chat, so that I can fine tune any plot content to avoid things players may not want to face in game. Additionally, I am always online via my discord both during & outside of game should you need to bring something to my attention, whether thats a veil thats being approached too close or something makes you uncomfortable. Lastly, I implement a red/yellow/green warning system in foundry, that allows for players to call a halt or warning during game as a final safety rule.

How will character creation work

Character generation will occur during a zero session with everyone present. This is as much to make sure we all mesh as a group of people as it is to make the characters, backgrounds & get everyones equipment setup. We will also discuss lines & veils for the game(please Private message me ahead of time if your uncomfortable with expressing these in a live chat). Also any special rules the game will include, such as the custom Persistent Condition "T-Virus Infection" I will be using during this chronicle. Afterwards communication & further background info will be conducted with everyone via a discord channel on the server I use.
