About the adventure

Port Venture A colony of the Kingdom of Andros. One of 3 major settlements in the chain of islands known as the Baluvian Isles, the town is built among the craggy tiers surrounding the Bay of O'oau. Cliffs dominate the south side of the bay, blocking the wind, and calming the waters of the bay itself. Wooden buildings huddling amongst the winding paths close to the water make up the majority of the town which then spreads out into flat, fertile farmland that flows out to the north and east. Trade with a native goblin tribe supplies the town with meat, fur, and rare spices. While its proximity as the midpoint of a long sea journey assures a slow but steady flow of cargo ships through the port. But, even though there are settlements, the Baluvian Isles are far from 'settled' and very few have ventured far from the shores. Who knows what new strangeness lurks in the darkness of the unexplored?!? (Me!!! I know! I know what's there!) You are a citizen of Port Venture with a vested interest in the success of your... venture. What begins with a few dead cows may just portend the end for the colony. This game is a One Shot D&D 5e adventure set on an island of mystery. I have pre-generated 3rd level characters to start but if there's enough interest, I could turn it into a campaign.

How to prepare

You need a mic and discord. You also need to have a roll20 account that I can invite you through. You will choose your character when you show up to the game session.

What I provide

I will have the adventure set up in Roll20 with the characters ready to go and be sitting in Discord voice an hour before the session in case there are more questions.

Gameplay details

I strive to give players as much as they can handle. I think that the reward of role-playing is in the overcoming of the challenge presented. That means that I rely on you to let me know if I'm pushing too close to some edge. X card, Private Message, or just straight up say so during the session. Worst case is that I have to rewind a little and take a different direction. Main thing to remember is that I want to make your character uncomfortable, not you. I am nurodivergent and trying to juggle all the aspects of running a story at the same time so I may not pick up on your subtle (or not so subtle) hints. Wheaton's Law applies to me as well.

How will character creation work

For this game it will be pre-generated 3rd level characters who have a vested interest in the town. You might be the owner of the general store, the head priest of the local temple, or the commander of the local garrison. These 'vested interests' come with an appropriate gameplay advantage.
