About the adventure

Welcome to Port City! The City of Coin! The City of Sails! The City of Guilds! Wanting to join the new Adventurer's Guild? Right this way! Just sign the registry here and there is a fee of just 5 silver pieces. ... ... Alright, here are your papers, just make sure to sign them, or they aren't fully legal. The Request Board is right over there. Just take a post, bring it over, and I'll give you the info! Good luck and good hunting! Port City is a inside-out created campaign setting I started when D&D 3.5 came out. I've since updated it for 5E! A grand city of adventure, magic, faith, tradition, intrigue, mystery, commerce, and so much more! The rule of Port City has changed hands many times in its long history. It's currently ruled by the Lord Mayor, appointed by the king. However, the Lord Mayor must share his power with the Hall of Guilds, who have been ruling the city for many years before the kingdom "conquered" it. The Churches, though important to the citizens of the city, don't have any real political power, but they are given advisory seats within the Hall. Due to everything that's been going on recently in and around the city, the Lord Mayor has created the Adventurer's Guild. This gives would-be heroes someplace to register and find ways to help their community, earn some coin, and maybe make a name for themselves. The most recent listing on the Request Board is actually from the local cathedral. It seems that many of the monks and workers in the vineyard have turned up missing or dead. What's worse, it seems the dead don't want to stay motionless either. The head priest is offering a substantial reward for any who can solve the mystery! This is the first, of what I hope will be many, adventures for the Port City campaign setting. It helps establish the world, the city, and gives a little dungeon crawl mystery to help kick things off!

How to prepare

All you need to prepare is a Roll20 account, which is free, and a headset/mic for voice chat. Though I often will use a camera for video chat, this is by no means required of the players.

What I provide

I will be providing the characters, maps, and tokens used in the game. Roll20 will provide the dice, voice/video chat, and VTT.

Gameplay details

I'm capable of running this game in multiple systems, so please let me know which one you prefer when you reach out to me! The default will be D&D 5E, so if I don't hear anything about a different system, that's what you'll be playing in. Murder in the Vineyard is an introductory adventure to not only the setting of Port City, but of the system being used as well! Also, if you're not familiar with Roll20, I can usually give a quick intro-rundown to help you better navigate it. You'll be able to choose a character from several pre-gens created specifically for this setting and the chosen system. There's a short intro to the world, a little role-play section as the characters register for the Adventurer's Guild (to help get into character) and then it's off to the cathedral to investigate the vineyard itself!
