About the adventure

Kanto. You know the Kanto region- Game Freak has made sure of that. Explore Kanto with a few changes in a gym crawl, and fight an evil team while you're at it. A simple game to help new players learn the system and keep things down to earth. No contests, trainer combat will be rare (but can happen at select gyms, against the evil team and in the Champion fight), and Warper is banned.

How to prepare

You need to have _some_ way to open and read PDFs- Adobe Acrobat Reader would be best for it, to be able to use the bookmarks on the PDFs. A Google account is needed to use the automated character sheet, as is a Discord account for where most of the play will take place.

What I provide

I'll supply the rulebooks, sheets, and explain how to play. This is my reimagining of the Kanto region, one meant to be lived in, not played.

Gameplay details

PTU is a crunchy system. Expect tactical battles at certain points (such as in Gyms), while regular trainers will generally fight much more simply. The main goal is to travel from town to town, collecting Gym badges, fighting a lot along the way. Roleplay will certainly exist, but I am personally a more combat-oriented DM.

How will character creation work

We will have a Session 0 to discuss backstories and how to make a character in the system. Automated character sheets will be provided, as will the core handbook, Pokedexes, and erratas.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: High
  • Roleplay: Medium
  • Puzzles: Low
