About the adventure

Experienced GM will run a Saturday Evening game. About half will be pulled from the published adventures in The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh and the other half will be my custom creations. We'll tell a story together where each PC gets private time and custom content. Let's work out the personal circle and home base for your PC. As GM I promise not to harm or exploit your 'personal circle'. PCs are fair game, but your friends and family are not. This will be an Old Skool style game in Hard Mode. It's all about storytelling and mutual enjoyment, so I'll never let the game bog down in a rules mire. We'll use plenty of tactical maps but we won't allow them to bog down the game. Theater of the mind will also happen. I prefer to let the players take an active roll in the story. The best game sessions occur when the GM mostly shuts up and lets the players move the story forward, saying just enough to resolve questions and keep things moving along. I welcome both new and experienced players. I expect this game will run through about level 12 or 15 over a 1-2 year time period. Expect relatively slow, narrative-based level advancement. Let's especially savor the lower and middle levels. Expect mystery & challenge. Your early actions will influence later events. I abhor railroad games. Expect a mix of narrative and an open world. I'm hoping PCs will want to establish and advance a base, but that's up to you. I encourage meaningful social relationships between PCs and NPCs. The world can be gritty and cruel as well as kind and wonderful. We'll keep sexual content to PG13 and 'fade to black'. While not strictly an aquatic campaign (unless players want that), your PC should definitely be able to handle aquatic situations. Much of the story occurs on or near the ocean. Games will start at $12 per session. Every few sessions I'll increase the price by $1, until we cap at $20 per session. This is my bread (and rent) money. Sessions will typically run 2-3 hours, hopefully to a good stopping point. I ask that players commit to participating fully in the games. This is to maximize everyone's fun. E.g. DO NOT sign up if you have a time conflict 3 hours after start time, DO give your full attention to the game, even when it's not your turn to do stuff. Learn to riff off the other players.

Additional Details

How to prepare

You will need a microphone and very basic experience with Discord and Roll20. I'll teach whatever is required. Create your own character. My games tend to be rules-lite and fast paced.

What I provide

I'll provide a VTT, tokens, a DND Beyond Campaign, and plenty of custom content. I'd like to together build a private home base for each PC who wants one. I'm a Roll20 creator and write advanced scripts as needed.

Gameplay details

Please speak up if anything makes you uncomfortable. We'll take regular breaks. I'll regularly ask for your feedback. While your GM is probably very experienced need for safety tools such as aftercare we should have no need for such things, as my games stay relatively tame.

How will character creation work

All official content is allowed. I'm totally open to homebrew as well, just ask. I suggest you create the character you want to play, without a lot of regard for building the perfect party. Optimize as much or as little as you want, I can handle it all.

Players can expect
